Re: Chemo Nausea

Emend did not work for me (on FOLFOX) but I had a newer drug called Varubi that everyone told me I loved. My insurance would not cover it because it is newer and it is $320 a pill, but I thought it was still worth it. I had Sudden Cardiac Arrest on my 3rd treatment 2.5 weeks ago so I do not remember...

Re: Scared Newbie

My dr told me almost immediately he suspected it was cancer. You likely caught it much earlier than I did, and while none of us can say for sure, if all you have to have a few extra polyps removed, consider yourself very lucky. Also like others have said, stay off google, you will terrify yourself n...

Re: Folflox - Cardiac arrest after 3rd treatment / 35 y/o m

Thank you for the responses. My cardiologist is still searching for answers and I am switching chemo doctors as she has been very unhelpful since this has happened. Going to visit some of the bigger centers, Moffett, Florida Cancer Institute, and go back to Cleveland clinic and get an opinion from a...

Folflox - Cardiac arrest after 3rd treatment / 35 y/o m

The doctors till aren't sure for sure it was the chemo, but on December 30th I had sudden cardiac arrest. I had my pump taken off and complained of heartburn/chest pain. They sent me for an EKG and Echo and let me go home (they never should have) Thank GOD that my wife was sitting next to me when I ...

Re: Losing my mind / constant urge to have bowel movement / 3 week post op loop ileo

The Ativan seemed to help some last night, though not as much as I hoped. I do feel like I can function (first day back to work after 5 weeks). Still having to take half an Oxycodone to supplement with it though, though I will try less with the Ativan after a few days but didn't want issues at my fi...

Re: Losing my mind / constant urge to have bowel movement / 3 week post op loop ileo

Thank you so much for that reply Karen, that makes so much sense. Do you know if LORazepam (Ativan) does the same thing as Valium? I was prescribed this to assist with the nausea during chemo. I only took it once and was so miserable I was not sure if it did anything to help. I am going to try it to...

Re: Losing my mind / constant urge to have bowel movement / 3 week post op loop ileo

Well a few updates. It seemed somewhat improved for several days then came back very bad. I didn't take any pain killers and only a small amount of immodium when I went in for chemo. It felt perfectly fine then the night before I had my pump off it got severe and I had to take a whole pain killer ju...

Re: Safe to wait on Chemotheropy?

Well I started my chemo this past Tuesday. Felt perfectly fine until Thursday when they took off the 46 hour pump. Once I woke up, it was all downhill. I puked my brains out the entire day. When I went in to have the pump off they tried every different kind of antinausa meds. Nothing seemed to work ...

Re: Losing my mind / constant urge to have bowel movement / 3 week post op loop ileo

Missy - Thank you so much for the advice, I will def try some of those suggestions today. I still have a rectum, it is a j-pouch with a temp ileo. My stoma was over producing on Sunday so I took an Imodium, that seemed to help GREATLY, even better than the pain killers for some reason. I can seem to...

Re: Some genetic testing results back

Wow that is terrible how long they are making you wait. They did blood and tumor testing for me (Cleveland Clinic) and got everything back in about 4 weeks. I'm hoping for the best for you on the results.

Re: Losing my mind / constant urge to have bowel movement / 3 week post op loop ileo

A few updates: The urge is much better during the day, seems to get much worse after lunch, then it is the worst after dinner. Yesterday was better than most, I was only taking half a pill every 4-5 hours. I had a VERY strong urge later in the afternoon and was able to pass a small bit of stool and ...

Re: Safe to wait on Chemotheropy?

Thanks for the advice all. I talked to my surgeon and he referred me to an Oncologist local to me because he said it would be better if I did not wait. I also live 2 hours away from Cleveland Clinic (I'm in Florida, so this is their Weston hospital). I really liked the Oncologist, she seemed very th...

Losing my mind / constant urge to have bowel movement / 3 week post op loop ileo

I'm three and a half weeks post op from having a loop ileo with j-pouch for rectal cancer. I start chemo on the 30th but the past week the urge to have a bowel movement is constant. I occasionally will pass a tiny bit of mucus etc which I know is normal, but the CONSTANT urge to go will not pass. Th...

Safe to wait on Chemotheropy?

I had rectal surgery just under two weeks ago at the Cleveland Clinic. They have been really good but unfortunately the oncologist for them does not have any openings until December 12th. I originally did not get an Oncologist because they were optimistic they were going to get it all based on the M...
