Re: Diet with ileostomy

My DH has illeostomy (for 12 years). He basically eats everything except for corn, nuts, seeds. I think it is a trial & error.

Re: Back on the Bike

I love your post! 70 miles in one day. When I ride my bike 10 miles I feel like I have really accomplished something (& I haven't been through what you have). Cant wait to see pictures of your garden! Mine is pitiful-just haven't had time or energy. Been battling with Ground Squirrels- they eat ...

Re: Lung surgery bowell leak rant

Kenny- The oncologist said no reason to take after 3 months. I would like a 2nd opinion. But DH is so resistant.

Re: Question about VATS

My DH had VATS 7 weeks ago. He spent 3 days in the hospital. One week of soreness- after that, he didn't even have to take pain meds. It was much easier than we both thought it would be. He is still having a little "tingling" in his chest. The surgeon said that should go away in time. Good...

Lung surgery bowell leak rant

It's been 7 weeks since my husband had 2/3 of his upper right lobe removed. The surgery recovery was a breeze. I was super surprised. Unfortunately, there was vascular invasion (R-1 margin). So off to the oncologist to talk about more chemo. My husband has been battling an intestinal leak since May ...

Re: Chemo after single lung met?

Kenny- xeloda was discussed. DH is in a bad position. Has been dealing with leaking fistula since May 2014. Also, he doesn't have a colon- so not sure how much of the pills would be absorbed. That is why Oncologist suggested IV 5FU. But we will see where he is at in 4-6 weeks. Xeloda would be the ea...

Chemo after single lung met?

Dh is having vats tomorrow. We met with oncologist & he said 6 months 5fu staring about 4-6 weeks after surgery. For those of you who had a single lung met, did you do chemo after surgery?

Guess I need to change dh signature. No longer stage 3.

Thanks

Re: Lung Biopsy-3/20/14 Update

After much back & forth, biopsy was done. SURPRISE- it's MRC. So, on Monday DH will have VATS -not sure how much of the lobe can be saved because it's deep. Thanks to everybody that weighed in. I am sorry any of us have to talk about this at all.

Great attitude BB. Sounds like a good plan. My DH is very positive just like you. He's going to have vats lobectomy on Monday.

I thought you already lived in the country? Probably because of your beautiful garden :D

Did you get 2nd opinion?

Wondering how many people got 2nd opinions- or just went to first surgeon they saw? I really want husband to have a 2nd opinion regarding lung surgery. He just wants to go to first Dr because he likes him. The Dr did spend 2 hours with us - explained everything. I realize it's his decision. Somethin...

Re: Lung Biopsy-

It's in his upper right lobe. Dr said it would diminish his breathing by 20%. He also said 40%survival rate over 5 years (wish he hadn't said that)
