Re: What was everyone's symptoms of colon cancer

My husband had none. He had a stomach ache on a Wednesday. Worked the rest of the week, finally the following Sunday night he let me take him to the ER. Stage IV, innumerable and inoperable mets to liver. He was 46 at diagnosis. Sooo frustrating to have no symptoms and to be too young to even think...

Definitely get a comprehensive set of germline genetic tests. Contact a genetic counselor at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here

Also, don’t ask if you’re going to die. Even if your cancer is advanced like mine they have no idea beyond “probably”. “Probably” may be true statistically as a population but we are individuals. So get your tumor staged, treatment protocol decided on, and work at it until you’re cured or can live y...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

I feel slightly better. This surgeon at Columbia Presreally knew his stuff. He was factual and direct and when I asked him if I was going to die he replied, not from this Ct scan. The Ct scan showed that it isn't in any lymph nodes, not in the liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc. they did not get to see ...

Re: Genetic Testing

Lynch is not just about lifetime colorectal risks. That is just the most well known and largest risk. There are a litany or other cancers you have to watch out for. There are also other germline genetic mutations clinically relevant for other cancers.

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

Where do you live? If around New York, memorial Sloan Kettering is good. They accept most insurance. If not, call anyway and see if they can figure out how to help you. This step may take patience.

Yeah. I didn’t lose weight until chemotherapy destroyed my appetite.

Re: Polyps at (relatively) young age...wonderibg how to advocate

My first genetic testing was through myriad, which found the two clinically important mutations I had. MSK also did this but the results were identical.

Re: DK37 Experimental Immunotherapy Treatment Update

Ah I understand. I am sensitive to misinformation going around the internet with our disease because most people will try just about anything out of desperation. So a counterbalance against that impulse is important if you want to be objective about treatment. That being said, I read some more of yo...

Re: DK37 Experimental Immunotherapy Treatment Update

Why combine chemotherapy and immunotherapy? Aren’t most chemotherapies immunosuppressive?

Re: DK37 Experimental Immunotherapy Treatment Update

I’m confused. This looks like blog post, not meant for scientific publication. Are you actually in a trial or just experimenting on yourself? Anyway, I can testify to the intense pain at primary tumor site experienced when I first started Pembrolizumab. Lasted six weeks. Six weeks of hell.

Re: New scan on Keytruda. Need opinion.

If only one tumor seems to not be responding it is possible it has mutated a defense to pembrolizumab.
