Re: CT Scan results good... I think

Hi Lauretta, Thanks for the reply. Yes I know that there is a strong possibility of recurrence. I am allowing myself to not worry over Christmas at least. I am supposed to do blood work in ""3 or 4 months" time and schedule an appointment with my onc. I think I will do that in early M...

Re: hernia and scan

thanks for the inputs Ranger. Both my surgeon and onc seem to be very laid back/blase about my hernia. It is pretty small and not very noticeable. I was concerned that it may be related to my obstruction but that is apparently not the case. If it isn't causing any problems and not getting any worse,...

Re: Xeloda Question

I believe dosage is determined by body surface area i.e. grammes per square meter (g/m^2) http://www.halls.md/body-surface-area/bsa.htm Xeloda prescribing information: http://www.gene.com/gene/products/information/xeloda/pdf/pi.pdf I know that mass and weight are not technically the same thing but i...

Re: CT Scan results good... I think

I saw the onc this afternoon. He is quite happy. My CEA and CA19-9 are normal. He said I will need to be on warfarin for at least nine months because of the "clotlets" in the pulmonary artery. He also said that he wants me use stool softener to try to alleviate the obstruction and if that ...

Re: CT Scan results good... I think

PS RE blood clots: I think my blood is quite thin at the moment. I have it tested every week. I missed this week's test though due to my car being in the shop. Yesterday, I had to drink 1l of contrast for the CT and because of my obstruction, the contrast just built up in my stomach, duodenum and up...

Re: CT Scan results good... I think

Hi Georgie, Yes the part about filling defects in the pulmonary artery branches is strange. I had DVT in neck and left arm a month or so ago for which I had to spent five nights in hospital. They gave my clexane injections and put me on warfarin, which I am still on. The DVT was caused by my port, w...

Re: hernia and scan

BTW janklo I hear your words of warning. There may still be some peritoneal nastiness going on which the scan didn't detect. I gave blood yesterday for a CEA/CA 19-9 etc blood test. Hopefully they are still normal. (although I know that that is no guarantee that all is well)

Re: hernia and scan

Thanks CRGuy for the vibes and John/ST for the detailed reply. I went for a scan yesterday and everything looks good. My surgeon thinks the report is "excellent" but I still need to discuss it with my onc. details of results are here: http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f...

CT Scan results good... I think

Well, I had my first post-treatment scan today. Two days earlier than scheduled because I have an obstruction which we are trying to figure out. Good news: liver clear lungs clear ("no areas of lung consolidation and no long masses or "hilere" (in Afrikaans) masses, whatever "hil...
