Re: Dealing with low white counts

Hi there I completed 12 rounds of chemo and my blood counts steadily reduced from the beginning. My onc didn't want to delay any treatments, and neither did I. When my neutrophils dropped to low levels he prescribed neupogen injections. I had an injection on day 3 when my infusion was removed and th...

Re: What's up with so much weight loss?

Hi Cindy Sorry to hear that your husband has lost weight and has no appetite.....it must be a worry for you. I also suffered with this especially after my colon resection and physically I could only eat small amounts. My GP prescribed a medication called mirtazapine, initially to help me sleep as I ...

FEELING QUEASY/NAUSEA....ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Hi guys Just looking for some advice please. I finished 12 cycles of chemo in Dec. Yay! I thought, no more nausea. However, about a couple of weeks ago I started feeling queasy and having nausea most days which is making me feel miserable and also wondering what's causing it is making me stressed an...

Re: Chest pains......from chemo?

Hi Terry

Thank you for replying....it doesn't feel like gas. Usually with gas I get a sharp pain but this is almost constant pain. Don't think that it's cardiac related.

Chest pains......from chemo?

Hi all, I finished 12 rounds of chemo on 10 December. However, I still get the odd pains in my chest....while on chemo I used to get indigestion caused by the steroids I believe. I never suffered with indigestion prior to commencing chemo. The pain is not quite as intense but still there at times. I...

Re: How Soon After Chemo Ends Should CT Scans Be Done?

Hi I finished 12 cycles of chemo mid December. My onc wanted to see me 3 months post chemo after having bloods taken which includes CEA. I saw my surgeon at the completion of chemo and he wants me to have a colonoscopy 12 months after my resection so that will be in June and a CT of my chest, abdome...

Re: Port Questions

Hey there I had my port inserted under a general anaestetic. I went into hospital as a day patient. I went in around lunch time after fasting from 7am, my surgeon was running late, so I went into theatre at around 5.30pm and went home at around 8-8.30pm. I didn't have stitches, I had steristrips put...

Re: turmeric

Hi all I have some turmeric root powder in my spice collection. I thought that I'd mix some with a little olive oil to try it, I have to say that I didn't really like it, thought that it wouldn't be too bad, however, don't think that I could manage it 3x/day. I'll be getting the capsules! For those ...

Re: turmeric

Hi Kimberley Thank you for sharing. Could you please advise how much of turmeric did this man take per day? Did he take it in the powder form? I have heard that the capsule form is more concentrated than turmeric powder and that you would need to take alot of powder in comparison to the capsule. Mic...

SUPPLEMENTS AND LIFESTYLE CHANGES TO HELP REDUCE REOCCURENCE

Hi all, Hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas. I was diagnosed stage 3 and have recently completed 12 cycles of chemo. As I don't want the cancer to reoccur, I believe that I need to make some changes in my life. Just wondering what supplements people are taking and what changes they have made t...
