Re: This website

I was terrified before I started chemo also. I'm about to have my last infusion. What I learned is that what happened to others won't necessarily happen to you. The list of all the side effects you can get almost knocked me to my knees. As it turned out I have had lots of frustrating side effects, b...

Re: Just had port put in, have a question...

Mine sticks out like a sore thumb also. :? When you have your port accessed, the nurses usually give you the option of having the area numbed first. For me, this means a small prick with a needle and a numbing agent. So when they "plug me in" as I call it, I feel the pressure, but not pain...

That was the case for me as well.

Re: First chemo , terrible hiccups ???

Yep, from what I understand it's the steroid pills that are given to me before an infusion that cause them. For at least two days later I'm walking a tightrope where I feel like they're going to start at any second. I have a solution that always works for me. It sounds nuts though. Take a glass of w...

Re: New here, need advice

I will ask her for some anti-anxiety meds as someone suggested, that's if I don't have a breakdown before then.... I will tell you that in my cancer journey the things I was scared the most of did NOT happen and the bad things that did happen I never in a million years would have anticipated. Worry...

Re: A really silly thing I was thankful for this Thanksgivin

Not silly at all horizon. This has been my first "normal" thanksgiving in 3 years. Last year I still had significant stomach capacity issues on thanksgiving (not the greatest thing ;)) and the year before it was like a dark cloud hung over the day as I knew I had cancer, but didn't yet kn...

Re: A really silly thing I was thankful for this Thanksgivin

I was thankful for the same thing! In fact, I cracked up my niece by saying, "I can eat anything I want!" and I did. I can't eat much at a time but I enjoyed everything I ate. Praise the Lord! It all tasted like it was supposed to and weird. Absolutely! Thanksgiving turned out to b...

Re: A really silly thing I was thankful for this Thanksgivin

I have many moments like this. I just ran a 5K and last year at this time I wasn't sure I'd be alive to see another November. This is around the time last year when I started really losing my hair from the folfox too and now it has grown back great. Let it only get better from here: happy t-day, Ho...

Stupid question time. Where is it placed if you don't go the chest/jugular route?

I was just reading through one of my old threads and saw a wonderful, encouraging comment that she left for me. I almost lost it. She was truly a wonderful person. Deepest condolences to her family.

I remember what you're feeling vividly. When I had my consultation and they listed all the possible side effects it terrified me. I'm almost done with my XELOX treatments and luckily my worst fears were NOT realized. This thread I made might interest you. http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/view...

A really silly thing I was thankful for this Thanksgiving...

....was that I could eat a lot of Thanksgiving dinner! I remember being in the hospital this summer after my resection. It had been almost a week since I had had solid food and I was trying to choke down some terrible scrambled eggs as my re-introduction to solid food. I vividly remember thin...
