Re: 11 birthday today

I don't post as much as more as I am not sure I can add much being so far removed from cancer/chemo

For many of us a statement like this while seeming far from our realities, is something we hope for.

Congratulations Helen and thanks for the positive note.

Re: NEWS from ongoing ASCO 2017: shorter chemo for stage III OK

I talked with my assistant ONC today. She is actually my ONC's assistant. He wasn't out of office. I asked and she said "oh no, he's here - just in the other room with another patient. We trade off sometimes." I was a bit peaved as I was discussing low blood count with his assistant rather...

Re: 5-FU cumulative side effects?

Hi, I'm new to this - just finished my 3rd treatment with 5-FU and Leucovorin. The first treatment was fine and my oncologist said how you react to the 1st one is usually how you react from that point on. I had mild nausea and fatigue but that was basically it. Second treatment about the same. Thir...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

You are an ironman my friend. I try to walk at least a mile a day, but with the chest pain I have, it's impossible to do on treatment week. I feel weak on treatment week, can't imagine lifting weights now lol. I've also cut back to only 1 or 2 dex pills during treatment week so that might explain l...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

You will feel like a new man next week and you have the holiday weekend. Gonna be a fun roller coaster ride for the next 6 months! Pretty much right on Tdubz. I was down for just 1 day, back to 80% next and then pretty much full on from then on. I worked everyday, including the 1 day of exhaustion,...

Re: NEWS from ongoing ASCO 2017: shorter chemo for stage III OK

This is very interesting. It sure would be awesome to say I'm half way done instead of a quarter done. Is a lifetime of neuropathy worth a 1% difference? Especially for those of us on the younger side? Tough call. I get my genetic test back in 4 weeks. Maybe that would be a good time to discuss thi...

Re: NEWS from ongoing ASCO 2017: shorter chemo for stage III OK

I'll be talking with my ONC about this Tuesday when I go in for treatment #2. First one was pretty smooth, only had mild first bite syndrome for about 24 hours, tired day after disconnect - otherwise good to go. When first discussing with my ONC he suggested I go at least 8 session as that seemed to...

Re: what should I expect on the first day of chemo?

Yes, I believe that is what they suspect. It only happens on the day before, of, and after disconnect. During that time my heart rate slows to the 45-55 bpm range and blood pressure drops to 90/50 along with the chest pains. I'm normally around 80 bpm and 120/80 blood pressure. I'm not sure what my...

Re: My ONC released me

Not sure why the surgeon would tell you, you only had 4-5 years to live. Perhaps with no treatment at all, but statistically speaking about 50% give or take 5% depending on the source - are cured just by surgery alone. At any rate, thanks for sharing. I'm also IIIB like yourself and Basil. I've had ...

I take the following: vitamins ======= D3 B12 Daily multi C other ===== Turmeric - 720mg Probiotic omezeropole ----------------------------------------- I've been taking Turmeric almost daily since 2011, way before cancer diagnosis. Given that my pathology suggests a slower growing cancer than most ...

Re: Just got post-surgery results and they aren't good

Thanks, Maggie and Sarah. On another note, is it normal to have internal pain 12 days after surgery? My husband is a left side sleeper and his surgeon said it would be no problem whatsoever for him to resume his usual sleeping position. So, last night he tried sleeping on his left side (left hemi-c...

Re: what should I expect on the first day of chemo?

Went in to give blood for the genetics test today and do some other lab work. They found that my potassium levels were low. I have read on some other threads that others had chest pain with low potassium so hopefully the supplements they are prescribing will help. Looking forward to feeling better ...

Re: Another new Forum Member.

Port disconnect went fine on Wednesday - was fast. I didn't feel exhausted right away, but 2 hours after I started to hit a wall. Yesterday I was spent. Felt blah, and had little to no appetite. I forced myself to eat and drink as much water as possible. Managed to do a little bit of work, but mostl...
