Re: It's back! NED no more

Stephen, know that you'll have plenty of people here pulling for you -- and I happen to know for a fact that you'll be getting an awful lot of support from new friends in this coming week. We will all be saying our prayers, swinging chickens, and keeping our fingers crossed for good news.

A&E's Shipping Wars - might see something special

So while The Colon Club's Board of Directors and Colondar staff are not allowed to specifically say anything other than "you might want to watch the season premiere of Shipping Wars on A&E on Tuesday, June 3 at 10/9c," their own promo piece will give you a pretty good idea of what it i...

Re: Weird bumps on finger joints

As long as we're laughing in this thread, and provided Belle doesn't take exception at me going off topic, this is the line that cracked me up: Of course I'm not a doctor and all that jazz.... Yeah, Angie, we get it that you're "not a doc" in terms of practicing medicine here on the site.....

Re: In total shock. Feeling despair

I realize the info you've been given doesn't sound good, and it's natural to be in the dark place in which you momentarily find yourself. I will tell you, though, that an ostomy doesn't necessarily mean no more bikinis. Two years out from her APR surgery, a pretty invasive procedure which she knew w...

Lois, if you venture back and read this, please know that Staci and I think of -- and talk about -- Bill Llib, and you, and Thomas quite often. We've wondered how the two of you have been, and have been sending good thoughts and prayers your way. We consider ourselves lucky to have been able to spen...

Re: These Days, I Try to Buy the Best

This is a completely OT response....but you don't know how happy it makes me to see that the ticker in your signature now has 5 digits in it!

Congratulations, BB....here's to many more miles. Now to get back on topic, maybe that means you need to go buy a new bike!

Re: Confused and shocked

Notam, others here have given you good information on what to expect now and what needs to be done, so I'll leave that info alone for the time being. I wanted to shed some light on the timing, since what you mentioned in your post is as little different than what many neoadjuvant chemo patients get....

Re: Tonya Floyd, Miss October 2014, has passed

Any death from CRC is one too many in my book....but this one is especially tough for me and for many on the Colondar staff. Tonya walked into our hearts in Lake George and amazed us all with her grace and her incredibly positive outlook. As recently as last month, she was out running races and bein...

Hey lady....as I said in my email to you, you'll have this whole crew here swinging chickens for you and saying lots of prayers. Just wanted to pop in to say how glad I am that you're getting some really good responses here. Know that Staci and I are both praying for you and your whole family as wel...

Re: Advise needed re: chemo after surgery for rectal cancer

Kim, I have to agree with Jaynee here....surgeons cut, and medical oncologists do chemo. I don't think either would feel 100% comfortable doing the other's job, so I'd lend more credence to the person whose normal day job is to determine the proper cocktail and dosing for chemo than the person who n...

Re: Please help! ileostomy reversed Dr now wants Perm Colost

Glad you gave Belle a shout out for the blogs....she has a knack for helping break through the hard stuff and helping others get their heads around difficult situations. So to give you some more encouragement, my wife was diagnosed at 32 and has now had a permanent ostomy for almost 5 years -- she's...

Re: The 30 Something Rectal Cancer Patient

Same age and same stage as my wife, and our kids at the time were 18 months, 4, and 7. In her case, it was so low in the rectum that she ended up having an abdominoperineal resection, but the treatment is dependent upon a number of factors. We're sorry you have to be here, but you'll find lots of go...

Rob, we'll have to make sure that you put a gold star on your application next year so we know to give it extra special consideration. The good news is that while we're waiting for next year's applications to open up, Christy Schmieler is representin' for the Burgh and all of western PA!

Re: T3cN2a, refusing chemotherapy?

Grouseman, do you know why the xelox standard is eight rounds and the folfox seems like most people do twelve? Kennyt, I've learned over the past few years that a lot of the adjuvant (post-surgery) chemo regimens depend on the type of cancer and whether or not the patient has had any chemotherapy o...
