Hand Foot Syndrome

Sorry because I'm sure this has been discussed, but I couldn't find any old threads with this title. So I had a 5FU infusion in the hospital back in mid-June; after that, I've been taking oral Xeloda (Capecitabine). It seemed like things were going fine, but about a week ago, I noticed something str...

Re: Reminder: August 26 scan appointment

... Finally ...she scheduled me for a scan on the 26th... For your scan on August 26th, what I would suggest is for you to bring a copy of your June 7th scan report along with its CD-rom so that the radiologist can make a technical comparison between your June 7th scan and the current one before wr...

Dude, how much does it suck that the vast majority of us will need to pack a travel bag like that, JUST for our assholes?

Re: Worried about chemo port

I went in for my scheduled chemo today. I told the nurse what had happened with the port. She flushed it, decided it was fine, and administered my chemo. I'm feeling okay. I'm bloated but not crampy. No diarrhea, no tenesmus. No peripheral neuropathy or other acute side effects from oxaliplatin. Wel...

Re: Different treatment in Germany

Germany has one of the TOP radiation centers in the world with new carbon technology. It's better then US radiation treatments and less damage from it. US is the slowest from all the other countries when it comes to cancer treatments and advancements. https://www.heidelberg-university-hospital.com/...

Re: Help. Squirt bottle recommendations?

Yeah, actually our bidet at home is one of the BioBidet ones, added onto our regular toilet. It plugs into the wall (so need an outlet handy) so it warms up the water. My husband installed it so I can't say anything about that process. It did seem fairly quick though. I tend to travel really light;...

Re: Diarrhea and bloating and gas, oh my!

This morning was crazy. From 8:30 to about noon, I sat on the toilet at least 20 times, with a strong urge to poop, and a significant amount of poop came out each time! I was dumbfounded that so much poop could be in the human body! Eventually I took Buscopan. We were expecting guests at 1:00 becaus...

Re: Help. Squirt bottle recommendations?

Ok, I just read about c.diff, and I'm not sure that I don't have it. It sure would explain a lot about how I've been feeling. I could have caught it in the hospital. My poop has been smelling weird, but I attributed it to the chemo. For God's sake, before my diagnosis, my whole life, my sense of sme...

Re: Help. Squirt bottle recommendations?

I use one that has a bend near the tip. That way, you can hold it from the front and it will squirt water directly at your butthole. I thought about getting one of those bidets that you can install onto your existing toilet, and I just didn't want to bother with installation. The squirt bottle is l...

Re: Different treatment in Germany

My idiot sister suggested that I MOVE to Germany because I have German citizenship. 1) my passport is expired. 2) I speak the language, but there's a difference between "Guten Tag" and figuring out how to rent an apartment, figuring out their public transportation system, and, oh yeah - le...

I'm not where you are, but I'm always of the "listen to your body" mentality. It knows what it needs. If it asks for rest, give it rest. Let it be strong so that it can fight off any future illnesses.

Re: Diarrhea and bloating and gas, oh my!

Today was identical to yesterday, except I didn't take aby Buscopan today. 3 or 4 poops today, all of them normal, small, and borderline hard. I'm slightly constipated. Still. This is just so weird! First, I have to take these medications so frequently because they won't kick in, and then when they ...
