Re: Is this really colitis, or something else??

Yikes!!! I'm glad they caught it and that he's on the mend from that, at least. And really sorry to hear that it is related to cancer... Again... This damn disease is so relentless. But denial has never healed anyone, and it's good to know what to fight against. Here's to hoping that Avastin + Folfi...

Re: Lukewarm to positive?

And surgery is DONE! I was correct - they did remove some remnant tumor by DH's 4th lumbar vertebrae; the surgeon was confident he got everything, and he was also able to create lots of space for nerves, as well as fuse L3-4-5 for stability. Phew, I'm so relieved, that bit about uptake in the psoas ...

Re: Is it possible for someone to develop Crohn's

I'm sorry all this is happening to you and your brother... I've never heard of someone developing Crohn's post CRC; it's usually the opposite (as was most likely the case for my husband). Regardless, I certainly hope things get better for your brother soon!

Re: Is this really colitis, or something else??

Wow that's indeed a lot to take in! I'm really surprised they were considering Lonsurf without having ever tried Folfiri + Avastin - drug combos can be so much more efficient than single drugs! I know what you mean about "never catching a break", and the frustration of not being able to be...

Re: Lukewarm to positive?

Huh. Got the PET report today and it's not as "clean" as I thought: "There remains abnormal radiotracer uptake along the right lateral margin L4/medial margin of the right psoas the corresponds to abnormal postcontrast enhancement on the 4/7/2028 MRI. This is most concerning for resid...

Re: Is this really colitis, or something else??

I am very sorry about this new setback, Jill. I do not have experience with colitis (DH had Crohn's), but I do hope that's what it is and not disease progression. What kind of test are they doing? Hopefully you will get answers today, keep us posted XXX

Re: Hello, I'm new here

Glad the neuropathy seems to stay at bay for now, I hope that continues! Is this unpleasantness around your port a new thing? My husband always "felt" his first port; it wasn't painful, just something that was always "there". After his Xelox treatment it was removed - we were a b...

Re: Lukewarm to positive?

Thanks everyone! As you can imagine, DH would rather avoid another trip to the cutting board, but there really is no alternative - without surgery, he'd end up paralyzed. It cannot come soon enough! We're lucky in MT to have very few COVID19 cases so other medical issues can be treated without delay.

Re: Lukewarm to positive?

Next episode of this saga... After two weeks of PT, it became clear that it wasn't going to cut it. DH's leg would suddenly "give out" on him and he'd fall. He couldn't drive - too dangerous. So we made an appointment with a neurosurgeon, who requested a PET scan to complement the MRI and ...

oxycodone <-> Gabapentin : (Major interaction ! ) https://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=1147-0,1770-0 That's very interesting, JJH. My husband is on heavy doses of Gabapentin (has been for teh past two years) and is also taking Oxycodone right now, because of his lumbar stenosis. S...

Re: SBRT

Same as Lovelife789 - DH had SBRT for his spine and it worked great, minimal side effects (a little nausea and fatigue but only during the treatment, not after). I believe others on this forum have had it done on lung mets.

Re: Cycling seats post radiation treatment

No worries :) It’s fantastic that you’ve been able to ride your road bike outside, it must feel so good! DH and I have been riding regularly, 10-20 mile loops; weather still finicky (Spring in Montana!). Unfortunately he’s got a new problem, his right leg is almost paralyzed and he’s in excruciating...

Re: Please help, input needed

My husband has lumbar foraminal stenosis right now (a consequence of his damaged vertebrae, he’s seeing a neurosurgeon in Wednesday). He did an online consultation with a pain specialist (from palliative services) and was prescribed oxycodone but also Valium. It’s not a long term solution but at lea...
