Or am I doomed to die? This is weighing heavily on my mind lately. I constantly hear cure can only be achieved by cutting out the cancer. In my case, HIPEC would be my only solution to cutting out the cancer or do I have any other options to research? HIPEC is only successful in a very small percent...
Following this thread since I'm currently considering HIPEC. I do hope you continue posting on your wife's progress. I find very few success stories with the HIPEC procedure.
I have a lot of reading to do. ;) I'm hoping they have perfected things since 2012. The survival rates are dismal. Fewer survive than get 'cured'. Much thinking needs to happen on my end.... Butt then again, survival rates on peritoneal spread is damn dismal also. Right now I just feel screw...
If you are still looking, I had HIPEC 6 years ago in Pittsburgh from Dr Matthew Holtzman at UMPC. Great doctor. My initial surgeon in Arizona thought HIPEC was a waste of time even though I was having re-occurrences every 6-9 months over a few year period. I have not had a peritoneal met since the ...
So many variables. Just as one person becomes an alcoholic, another person doesn't. Just as we find in cancer, one treatment works for one person and it doesn't in another.
All we can really do is try to fight and to love life for as long as we can.
Exercising actually helps combat fatigue. I pushed myself in the beginning to just get up and walk! After a couple of rounds of chemo, I don't get that fatigue like in the beginning. I need to get back into that walking routine as I've gotten lazy the last couple of months. Time to dust off the bike...
Are you using a probiotic? If not, try taking Align. It may take a few days to build the good bacteria back up. Also, water helps to keep things balanced. If I don't drink enough water, I get lots of air to pass and softer stools. You would think it's the opposite but it's not. Keep us posted on how...
My oncologist rolled her eyes when I mentioned HIPEC at the beginning of my journey. It was a fleeting eye roll but as I'm a people watcher, I did catch it. I'm researching in case FOLFOX fails. From what I'm reading, I have a better chance of being a candidate if I have less seeding so better to go...
I got the port in yesterday. It is pretty awkward, difficult to turn my head because of the tape. I was told I could resume normal activities after 24 hours but saw cautions on web about reaching overhead, lifting more than 10 pounds. Anyone with insight? I was also told not to let water get on it ...
Thank you so very much for this invaluable information! It is so hard to find info, as you stated. You are an amazing researcher . Your BFF is super blessed to have you in her life. I am too!!!
Hi Claudia, Sounds like you should be reading a good book and cuddling the cat! Are you going to get mop up chemo? I know you said they do things differently there than in US. But it seems like this stray cells are what it is aimed at targeting. Going to take my dog out for a walk between rain and ...
Try to think positive thoughts. Get immersed in something that takes most of your attention. Doing puzzles or playing games on the computer works for me. I just got done with a 3,000 piece puzzle. Took me about 3 weeks and the loss of the dining room table to get it done. ;) You got this!!! {{{{hugs...
