Son is ill and I am scared

I am getting ready for a new scan, but right now I am so low cancer is my last worry. Our 20 year old son is experiencing severe, and I mean severe, constipation, along with testicle pain, urinary frequency and nighttime urination, a swollen red throat with a small lump on the front of his neck, an ...

Re: Fasting During Chemo

Although chemo made me nauseous, if I did not force myself to eat, I got so weak I could barely move about normally on infusion days. I’d go back to get the pump off and be struggling to sit in the waiting room chair if I didn’t eat. My blood sugar got really wacky during chemo and even if I did eat...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving - One Year Since Chemo

Congrats, and hope the positivity continues. I had a terrible allergic reaction to something on Thanksgiving Day 2016, on my 3rd chemo cycle. Spent the day getting a shot of steroids (which compounded nicely with the regular chemo steroids) and a prescription for oral steroids, which made me a giant...

Re: How many diagnosed have family with history?

No one in my family with colorectal cancer.

It’s odd because I have dna repair mismatch and it’s never shown up in my parents, grandparents, great grandparents, or siblings.

Or in any of my grandparents siblings. Or parents siblings.

Guess I am “special.”

Re: New here...At a Crossroad

Janis, I am so sorry I did not read you post carefully enough to see that you already are a patient at MD Anderson.

I hope that you can find a clinical trial that could help you.

No matter what your decision, I will be thinking of you and praying for you and your family.

Re: Having open colorectal surgery 11/09/2017

Good luck today, AlexM!

Had open surgery, in the hospital many days.

I didn’t eat much of anything while in the hospital, had zero appetite. The last 2 days I drank broth and felt a bit better.

My large incision was uncomfortable and moving sucked, but ya gotta walk.
