At Slight Crossroads and NCT01174121

Well – Might be at a minor crossroads here. Wife was doing 12 rnds of FolFox+Avastin+Oxi and seen decent results during the chemo regiment. Coming off a Chemo break of 2.5 months, yesterday’s CT scan showed progression of disease in Colon/Lungs. CEA up from 0.6 to 2.6. Essentially we are at the star...

Re: Time to decide whether to do chemo or just observe

Hi DanInMN – When we first found out about my Wife’s CRC, we of coarse were under the impression to go after it full throttle and throw the kitchen sink at it (Newbies). But over 6 months into this deal and conversations with 2 Oncs (Roswell & Sloan), that may not be the best approach for right ...

Re: Bad Scan - Need Info

Hi Crazy – My wife has practically the same genetic makeup as your husband. Currently we have had some success w/Folfox+Avastin+Oxi. Interesting that your Onc will not address Lung mets. We are experiencing the same thing. No discussion on mets or a basic plan moving forward to address them. Its che...

Re: New MSS-CRC Immunotherapy Trial: Erbitux+Keytruda

Hi DK37 - hope things are going well for you. Just heard about this trial NCT02713373. We are currently at Roswell Park Inst. with Dr Boland as our Oncologist (clinical trial admin),. As you can see below in my Signature, my wife is KRAS Mut. Would that exclude her from this trial ? Must you be Kras...

Re: Mets and CEA

Hi Lydia - yes you can have mets with a low CEA number, look at my signature for my wife. We just completed a CT scan last week and Folfox+Avastin+Oxi is currently working on shrinkage on colon/lung mets as well as her CEA levels. Initial CEA was 16 when DX'd. 14 bilateral Lung mets are still there,...

Re: Need Input - Pain in colon & fever

Hi Lee - CT scan this past week revealed diverticulosis in a short segment above and separate of the colon malignancy. Her Onc is putting her on 2 hi-powered antibiotics. Her pain and fever only lasted a couple of days and is very manageable right now. Whew !!!

Re: what should I expect on the first day of chemo?

Hi Tdubz - I think all the responses you received covered things very well. My wife has an infusion port, so she rubs a numbing cream on the port area (lidocaine) half hour before hookup. Be careful of any allergic reactions, in only 1 out of 12 chemo treatments, when my wife was leaving the treatme...

Re: Much/any difference in side effects when oxaliplatin is removed

My Wife did 8 out of 12 treatments of Folfox-Avastin-Oxi. The first 8 were very rough on her with Oxi. Once the Onc stopped Oxi, she could easily tolerate the Chemo without Oxi.

Need Input - Pain in colon & fever

Hi Folks, Need some input from past experiences. My Wife yesterday starting to have a sharp pain in her left side of around the colon area. In addition, she is running a slight low grade fever (100 F). Ibuprofen seems to knock everything down to a manageable level for her. I told her we need to see ...
