Re: New here

Hello, fellow Virginian! I'm unfortunately in the Richmond area so I can't share any recommendations, but I completely understand struggling with anxiety. It looks likely that my DH has a liver reoccurrence, though we don't have a biopsy to confirm yet. I've had bad test/scanxiety ever since he went...

Re: Recent HAI Pump?

I will admit his reaction did surprise me, considering how many people talk about it here. I haven't mentioned it to John's oncologist yet, I wonder if she would have a more positive opinion since wouldn't be looking at it from a surgical viewpoint? From what I've read, our local cancer center would...

Recent HAI Pump?

We just came back from John's surgeon consult about his liver met (assumed, they can't biopsy it so they're treating it as cancerous considering the CEA/history), and when he asked if we had any questions I inquired about the HAI pump. He looked absolutely dumbfounded and told me that "took him...

Re: Signatera Test Came out positive

Your 2021 path mirrors my husband's a lot. His oncologist went from a CT scan to a PET scan because even though the CT was clear his CEA jumped up again. We haven't done a signatera test, I only heard about it recently when it was mentioned to me that he should ask for one. The PET scan did find a s...

Re: Possible Liver Met, So Many Questions

John's CEA was 12 on diagnosis, and until recently it was around the 1.5-2.2 range when it suddenly shot up to 5.1 in February. From there it has just continued to go up, his most recent reading was 10.5, which is why his oncologist seems to be sure this is most likely a met. I'm not sure what quali...

Possible Liver Met, So Many Questions

Man this has been a long tiring road of tests. Long story short, my DH John’s CEA suddenly started going up in February and after a litany of tests we just got the results from his MRI. Good news is they only found one spot, but bad news is his oncologist is pretty sure this is the reason for the CE...

Re: Still Hunting

My husband has been dealing with a slowly increasing CEA since February, and his Onc started with a colonoscopy (clear) then a CTscan (also clear) but when his CEA kept going up she ordered a PET scan which had a spot lit up on his liver. Now we have an MRI this Friday to get more details on what's ...

Re: PET scan Questions

We got our results back and unfortunately it wasn't the free and clear I was hoping for as a "hypermetabolic lesion" was found on his liver where it is covered by the diaphragm with a SUV value of 15.3. I'm guessing that's why it didn't show on the CTscan? The Onc let us know it is possibl...

Re: CEA is a yo-yo

Unfortunately not, though the Onc must of thought of that because we did have to use a new lab because of COVID so they tested it again in-house and it only came back .2 lower. He did forget to fast before his most recent appointment where it went up again, but she said that shouldn't have affected ...

Re: CEA is a yo-yo

Uuuggghhh I haaaate CEA. When John was in the hospital his CEA was 12 and the Onc told him that it was possible his blockage wasn't cancer as inflammation can cause high CEA and that wasn't a drastically high number. We weren't that lucky of course, and he has stayed in normal ranges until recently ...

Re: COVID Vaccine and CEA Increase?

CEA LEVELS ARE MY NEMESIS! Sorry you are having this stress, and worry. I may have missed it- but did you find any more out? I’m at a lab getting my CEA checked this very minute. Sending love Ksue Not yet, he just had the PET scan on Friday and we see the Onc on Thursday for the results. I'm so hap...

Re: PET scan Questions

Thanks for your replies! Catstaff, you summed that up a lot better than what I have read so far so I appreciate it haha. And it's good to know that inflammation can cause the scan to light up too. Considering the whole reason we're doing this is a rise in CEA, maybe it will show where that inflammat...

PET scan Questions

John just left for his first PET scan, we should have the results on Thursday. I’m hoping and praying for a clear scan (man scanxiety is so much worse when his blood work isn’t in normal ranges), but I feel like I need to arm myself with some information just in case. His Onc is horrible about commu...

Re: CEA Level question

I completely understand the anxiety! My husband’s CEA went from 2.2 to 5.3 all of a sudden, retested a week later and it was 5.1, clear colonoscopy and CTScan but when retested a month later it was suddenly 7. He has a PET scan scheduled next week, it can be a false flag but his Onc wants to be sure...

PET Scan Machine Fit?

My husband's oncologist has ordered a PET scan to investigate a rise in CEA levels, but he received a rejection from the cancer center because he is just barely over the weight limit of the table? The idea of table weight limits never even crossed my mind as he's had at least a dozen CT scans by now...
