Re: Beansmama is gone.

Seeing events like this really make it hard to move forward mentally- wow, this sucks. I really enjoyed following her posts and all of the joy/inspiration she gave to others here. Truly sorry for her little one..Cancer sucks. Rockhound, I don't know for sure, but I think maybe if she were still her...

Re: Beansmama is gone.

Hearing this news was enough to suck the oxygen right out of me. I know Karen, me too. Literally. BeansMama gave everything she had to overcoming her cancer. She held back nothing. I remember her last posting before Christmas, where she was hospitalized with pleurisy and substantial lung fluid that...

Re: Tribute to my dear friend Anne - aka BeansMama

This is an excerpt from her last text to me...

"Please, feel free to share my story - if it gives just one person hope that you can overcome what seems impossible it is worth it."

That's who she was.

Re: Tribute to my dear friend Anne - aka BeansMama

I've been thinking of you since I heard the news. I'm so incredibly sorry for the loss of your dear friend. Even though we don't meet people face to face, we do have intensely personal connections with special people that we 'meet' online. A beautiful tribute to a phenomenal person. {{{ hugs}}} Tha...

Re: Beansmama is gone.

The liver resection was successful and she was cancer free when she went home from the hospital. From what I understand recovery seemed to be going well. She was fine a few weeks ago. It was blood clots in the liver that took her from us. She knew the surgery and recovery were risky, but we all thou...

Tribute to my dear friend Anne - aka BeansMama

I can't believe it's true, and I can hardly see to write this to you all. My heart is breaking. We've lost Anne. Our dear, sweet Beansmama. As most of you know, she fought a long battle with cancer, which ended in November when Larry was removed and found to be already dead. She was officially cance...

Re: Mom diagnosed last week - so scared

On the weekend of November 3, my mother started experiencing pain in her lower left side. She thought it was a muscle pull or a hernia. A week later (on the 11th), she developed a fever and my dad was able to convince her to go to the hospital. They diagnosed her with diverticulitis with a perforat...

Re: oxaliplatin side effects - 9 years after treatment

Nine years out from treatment with oxaliplatin, and my fatigue and neuropathy are getting worse. Have seen primary doctor, oncologist, neurologist - all looked for OTHER causes because they have no solution for side effects of chemo and don't want to admit that's the problem. Is ANYONE doing anythi...

Re: GOOD NEWS ON BEANSMAMA

I am doing well, just relaxing and letting myself heal for the most part. I have ventured out for a few doctor's appointments and a couple of trips to the store. I am usually pretty wiped out after that and spend the next day resting - lots of napping involved. I hope everyone else is doing well. I...

Re: My small "cancer's death" anniversary

2 years ago my MSKCC oncologist came to me with my pathology report and told me that my cancer was dead (I had 10+ liver tumors). My CEA went down below 2 in October 2015 from 140 in mid August that year at the beginning of chemotherapy. I achieved NED in May 2016 and yesterday I got another clear ...

Re: GOOD NEWS ON BEANSMAMA

Enormously positive update on BeansMama - she is over the worst and doing okay! :) She still may need to do some rehab, but she is past the worst, and is eager to get home. Larry has been evicted, and our girl has made it through surgery. I suspect we'll see her poke her head in here before too much...

Re: What did you tell the kids?

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and advice. We also were advised to be open, honest and age appropriate. It's this last one that I tread carefully with. My 6 year old is very verbal and picks up on a lot. She is also a bit of a worrywart and takes quick dives to worst case scenarios. Eve...
