Re: No longer NED - DEVASTATED

I love the purposeful effort...Go get it done! It is so empowering to witness others who take control of their own treatment plans and maintain control of their ship's direction. Being proactive and purposeful takes deliberate effort...I love witnessing this on this forum. Thank you for sharing. Wis...

Re: No longer NED - DEVASTATED

...It sounds like a great plan! Good luck and enjoy the sights of NYC together during the holidays as well. It is so beautiful down there this time of year. Go see the Radio City Show and/or catch a Broadway show while visiting there. I love NYC...Please keep us posted of your progress at MSK.

Re: No longer NED - DEVASTATED

I am sorry to read this. I would be very disappointed with MGH too. Since you are close to Boston, why not go to Dana Farber for an aggressive treatment plan for the cancer reoccurrence and go to your MGH surgeon if there is surgery involved. My wife gets her treatment plan from Dana Farber and goes...

Re: Anyone with peri mets who survived?

I am sorry to read of your recent troubles. My wife has had great success with an aggressive 1st year chemo program with 5FU and Avastin; and then after becoming NED, using Zeloda and Avastin on a three week maintenance treatment schedule. She feels and looks great, and just needs to get a power nap...

Re: Newly diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer at 42. Looking for hope and inspiration.

Hey Opal, My wife has crossed the four year mark of NED status and is heading for year 5 now. After the first year of an aggressive treatment plan, her maintenance plan involves Zeloda pills (2 weeks on and one week off) and a visit to oncology every three weeks for an Avastin infusion. Her life is ...

Re: Im mentally breaking

Hey Trying, I am sorry to read of your recent troubles. I have worked and witnessed many in troubling times and have found that the following advice has helped, so I am passing it along. Life is a long race, so break each moment up into smaller pieces that are more manageable each day. As I tell my ...

Re: My teenager is mad

I agree with Stu... Things always seem to settle out as time moves forward and you both become adjusted to the new normal of what you both are experiencing. My wife and me had high school teenagers living in our house at the time of her initial diagnosis, surgeries and treatments. We witnessed the k...

Re: Xeloda + Avastin Maintenance for NED people

I have been a big advocate for this maintenance treatment. I believe it has kept my wife NED so far. The plan was initially reviewed under the Cairo-3 study, and her treatment plan oncologist is from Dana Farber, Boston, MA. There may be newer analysis out there. Please share it if you find one. Sta...

Re: KRAS G12V - anyone with good news?

I am sorry to read what you are going through caring for your Mom. There are many Stage IV survivors here posting every week. My suggestion is to make sure she gets a second opinion on treatment from a major cancer center if possible. Treatment plans can still be implemented at the local facility as...

Re: KRAS G12V and Avastin

Don't get too tied down on what local Oncologists may say at first... The one thing I have learned here is that every patient is unique and so is the cancer. Get as much information you can find to the decision makers of your care. Get a second opinion at a major cancer center. Local hospitals will ...
