Re: new here :)

Hey Colin,

I know how you feel! My dad was diagnosed my last semester of college and passed away while I was in medical school. Its very hard to juggle everything you know with just being a daughter. If you ever want to talk, please feel free to PM me!

Re: Birthday Wishes... Chris Wills

Happy Birthday Chris! By the way, I applied to a pediatric residency at OSU. It broke my Wolverine heart to do so, but the program is amazing. Fingers crossed for an interview!

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

I had a similar experience to your mom... after my dad died I remember having a dream that my dad was sitting on the edge of my bed. I'll preface this by saying that I tend to sleep talk and have very vivid dreams to the point that I thrash and scream but I won't remember a thing. Usually, my dad wi...

Re: Discussions about In Memoriam posts

I like having it. I live far enough that I can't go home and pay my respects to my dad as often as I'd like. Sometimes I pull up the memorial thread from 2012 and just look at my dad's name and pay my respects that way. Really takes me back and reminds me of the strength he gave me to keep going. An...

Re: my 24 year old son

Hey Father, I can't help much with your current situation, but given your wife and now your son's diagnosis, has anyone in your family ever been tested for genetic syndromes, including Lynch Syndrome? I'm not sure if you have any more children, but both your wife and son were diagnosed with aggressi...

Re: OK, Kids. Come out of the closet. What do you guys do?

Well I think everyone knows what I "do", but, for the record, I'm a (fourth year!!!) medical student. Currently studying in my mom's basement for boards while she feels sorry for me and brings me chocolate and watermelon. Glamorous, I know.

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

I love this! I have a sign too! A couple days after my dad passed away, I took my mom to Meijer (grocery store) to get some food. We walked by the baby clothes, and, since my cousin was pregnant and I am a U of M alumni, I bought him a little Michigan onsie. I got home and sent a photo of it to my b...

Marco, I've started this post so many times and just couldn't find the words to say. Still now, nothing comes to mind but to send you, your girlfriend, and your family my love, prayers, and support. You have handled the toughest situation with such grace and humility. Clearly, this forum is rallying...

From a U of M Alumni... GO BLUE!

Now that that's out of my system, I wish you the best of luck on your scope. I've never had one myself so I'll let the other members give you advice, but try and relax and cross each bridge as you get to it!

Finished my third year!!

Well, this year was a toughie. Towards the end, I really burned out. I can see how medical school can make docs so cynical with its long hours of working and studying and just not sleeping. Thankfully I now have a month off to study for boards, and, even though I'll be studying, I'm at home and doin...

Re: An Old Story

The link between intusseseption and rotavirus is ALWAYS a board question for us. It's rare, but you either know it or you don't. Now I'll never forget it!

Glad she's ok Ski!
