Hi all. Will most likely be starting FOLFIRI in a few weeks. Any suggestions as to what supplements one could take to boost the effectiveness of the chemo? I plan to continue Vit. D3 and Metformin (which I am taking anyway for impaired fasting glucose). Not sure about aspirin yet. How about Reishi m...
Regular tennis player here. Being fit at the time I was diagnosed really made recovery from surgery much easier. I played tennis all thru chemo as well. Now just waiting a few months to fully recover from surgery before I start playing again.
Sorry to hear this. I think in the end your mom has to decide for herself as it is her right. Maybe there are less toxic chemo regimens she can try. Or other regimens aside from chemo therapy. Suggest you talk to your onc. Hope it works out.
Following this thread. After a pump placement when does the first infusion or filling start? How often do you have to go back to get it filled? How long is the whole length of treatment? Thanks.
Hi. I have recently been through my first and hopefully my last recurrence so I wanted to chime in. First of all dont panic. Its useless. Wait for the MRI result and what your doctors will say. They may or may not order a PET scan to check its metabolic activity. There are non-malignant lesions of t...
Read this as well as James Watson's similar hypothesis. On a personal note looking back my dad and I were the only members in our family who tried this certain glatathione-based antioxidant for a couple of years. He later on passed away from stage 4 renal cancer and 2 years after I was diagnosed wit...
Welcome Fritz. I think you did catch it relatively early. As far as I know Stage IIA is that gray area where some recommend chemo and some don't. For your sake I suggest you get it. It sucks but 12 rounds of FOLFOX is really nothing comapared to a recurrence. All the best on your treatment.
Just an update. I was discharged post liver resection. This surgery was tougher physically, mentally and emotionally than my first one last year. Histopath result got back and showed 2 mets with clear margins of resection. 2 other lesions were resected but turned out to be focal necrosis with no mal...
I was Stage IIIB for 3 years and then had an oligo-recurrent (metrochronus) met to my liver 1.5 cm. Had a hepatic resection where they took 80% of my liver to make sure to get any 'what if's'. It's been 3 1/2 years now with no recurrence. What those big words mean is a small limited recurrence and ...
Me ? Not as much, I'm the caregiver. However, we bought that kitchen sink , beyond the LEF list , with enough "bad habits" for oncologists to go seriously 'splodey headed. Speculative and substantial supplements become constrained by various personal factors, particular chemo and logistic...

Thats great news. Just wantef to ask what supplements you are taking.
I asked my Onc at MSK about these today. She told me that there are some mixed reviews about aspirin helping in people with a particular type of mutation that I don't have. She also said there is a risk with aspirin. As to the Vit D she said that again the reviews are mixed and some reports even sa...
"Fatty liver" is a very common finding on diagnostics. If there's a legitimate concern over detecting possible metastases I would request for a liver MRI with liver specific contrast (Primovyst) which, as far as I know, would be more sensitive.
