Re: RRX 001 Trial Update

Great news for your Mom but also for us... I believe this drug is the alternative to Stivarga, right? Stivarga has horrible side effects, and I know this from personal experience. If all your Mom has is port pain, that is great. No hand/foot, no high blood pressure, hooray! best of luck to her and t...

Re: Documentary Empeoror of all maladies tonight on PBS

cool! One of the scenes in the documentary was about the new war on cancer when, I guess NIH, got additional funding to make chemo, and chemists (?) or somebody was finding all of these rare plants and making extracts to test them against tumor tissue. Reminded me of the quest to get high or drunk, ...

Re: Documentary Empeoror of all maladies tonight on PBS

DK37 - I saw the documentary and noticed you even before I knew you were in CC and in it! I don't know why it stuck, perhaps because you and your labmates (?) were the only chemists featured in the program. Then I went back and rewatched part of the show but just didn't catch your scene again. Overal...

Re: Meridian, Chang, Nesselhut and Reality

You're welcome. I was very impressed with Dr. Chang. He really knows conventional chemo, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and immunotherapy. Brilliant person. Check out his "museum" of failed chemo treatments, including laetrile ~ The reality of being a stage IV colorectal patient is th...

Re: Meridian, Chang, Nesselhut and Reality

Howdy. I went to Chang and did the dendritic cell treatment from the Nesselhuts in Germany. I'm still alive to tell the tale, but am definitely not NED. It was not the magic bullet for me. I don't think it is snake oil. If you're interested, I blogged about my treatment on CSN http://csn.cancer.org/...

Re: STIVARGA (Regorafenib) - ONGOING PATIENT EXPERIENCES

To those of you who have been or are currently on this drug, did any of you have metabolic nodes anterior to aorta at L4 and other Retro-peritoneal active areas? Hi, Regan. I'm not sure what the above is exactly. I had a metabolic node near my collarbone that was the size of a golfball. Stivarga sh...

Re: What's your prognosis?

I overshare and am very open about my cancer, so wouldn't be offended by a prognosis question. I don't think I've been asked that, though. The most common question when I say I have cancer is "what type?", or people just assume I have breast cancer because I am female. I also act as a colon...

Re: My Favorite TV Show Is...And You?

Back when I was a kid in the 70s, there were three networks plus PBS that showed original programming. All my friends watched the same things, pretty much, and there weren't many alternatives. Today if we counted all the shows there could be a thousand of them. Unbelievable. I have the "what sh...

Re: Does anyone have a concierge GP?

I do. I sucked it up and paid the MDVIP fee, and it's totally worth the dip in disposable income for me. Half the reason I got MCRC was NOT having consistent medical care! I wanted a doctor who would know me, spend more than 15 minutes blinking at me (I mean talking to me), and be able to connect my...

Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

FYI: Melinda Bachini just posted a youtube video about her cancer and experiences with this trial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnUAo8PmQXQ She is not NED, but is alive, fully functional and energetic, not depleted by chemo, and her tumors are still shrinking. She's survived nearly six years with...

Re: PE Recovery?

Mark - Nope. Didn't have a chemo break while taking the lovenox. Kept taking Stivarga and had no problems. Other than the bruising and bleeding, but that had nothing to do with the chemo. (just the *&^% blood thinner!) My onc(s) did prescribe lovenox to me because it had been tested on cancer pa...
