Re: How long in hospital after surgery?

I had a resection of colon and rectum around the junction in January 2017. I had laproscopic surgery and was in hospital for 10 days with 6 in ICU. I walked a lot in hospital to try to get things moving because I was told that I couldn't go home until there was evidence of full transit. Whilst the h...

Re: Hair loss solutions?

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm not usually that concerned about my hair but, at the moment, it just feels like the chemo is stealing a little more of me with each treatment. Being able to look "normal" (whatever that is.... I've forgotten!), would just give me back a littke of what I ...

Hair loss solutions?

Despite believing that I wouldn't lose much hair with Folfox, I find my head becoming increasingly bare!! The Oxyplatin was stopped after 4 treatments, due to severity of neuropathy, and I wondered whether the hair loss would stop without it. 2 treatments on and I reached the point where I felt emba...

Re: Going for it - but freaking out nonetheless

All the best for your surgery tomorrow. Don't include "pain" in your worries...the staff will do everything necessary to keep you pain free. I didn't have the same op as you so can't add much to what others have said, however, I did find whatsaps to and from friends and family kept my spir...

Re: Much/any difference in side effects when oxaliplatin is removed

My oncologist stopped the oxaliplatin for my 5th treatment due to neuropathy. This means I only had it for the first 4 treatments. Even though I've only had one treatment without the oxi, it has made a huge difference to how I feel. The neuropathy in my hands has pretty well gone, although my feet a...

Re: Folfox.. ugh

I am about to go into my 5th round of Folfox.(sorry not done a profile yet!) I too was very sick for the first few but once nausea sorted it has got easier....still horrid but tolerable! With each round I feel a bit better emotionally. The neuropathy has become my worst effect but this will be dealt...

Re: How long until you see light at the end of the tunnel?

Think the last reply is in the wrong place? I have my pump going now after second infusion day. Very nauseous this morning but after meds feel less so. I soo hope the new stuff stops it coming back because it robs me of morale as well as good days...only managed 3 between cycles last time. Anyway, n...

Re: just had surgery - questions

Hi Mitch I'm just doing my 3rd Folfox. I have a few very loose bowel mornings but mostly it's pretty much the same.... I pass frequently and usually much smaller stools. The oncologist said that looseness happens with Folfox but the anti nausea meds cause constipation. So far they seem to balance ea...

Re: How long until you see light at the end of the tunnel?

I type as the drugs go in! Here canabis oil is not available... Sadly and whilst I'd like to try... I couldn't deal with prison at the moment!!! After this one, I'll be a quarter of the way through...still feels like a long journey..... Hopefully, with the extra anti nausea med, I won't lose so many...

I had a resection if ileum/rectum with no ostomy, in January, with 10 days before my first bowel movement... Felt like ages as they wouldn't discharge me until a movement occurred Now I still find that I have nore frequent movements but smaller and my bowel doesn't fully empty so I have to keep re...

Re: How long until you see light at the end of the tunnel?

Thank you for your responses, it helps so much to know that I am not alone on this truly horrible journey. I am crying as I type .... I saw the oncologist last night, he was fantastic, let me pour everything out, positively encouraged me to do it. I cried but managed to tell him how bad I'm feeling....

How long until you see light at the end of the tunnel?

I have had 2 Folfox treatments, the last has left me very "down". I can only look on the 10 further sessions with dread and the feeling that it is eating away at the person that is "me" . Normally I am an enthusiastic, positive person but see this changing with the treatment. Th...
