For a friend: recommendation for a good lung cancer support forum/group?

I have a good friend who has gotten an early peek at her chest PET scan results, and it looks like significant lung cancer in both lungs. Her appointment to discuss the results isn't until Wednesday, so she's in a tough spot of knowing things look bad but not knowing yet exactly how bad. You all hav...

Re: Rectal cancer (Stage 3A) diagnosed late June 2017

I find it much easier to run in cold weather than in hot weather. Of course it doesn't get very cold where I am; I think the coldest weather I've run in was maybe 20 degrees Fahrenheit. But when I join a training group in the winter, it tends to be a small group. And training groups in the summer mo...

Re: Probiotics while on Immunotherapy. Good or bad?

Not immunotherapy-related, but I've been prescribed 14 days of Florastor probiotic (available over the counter in the US) to help me recover from c diff, in addition to vancomycin. I was surprised that it isn't refrigerated, but it certainly doesn't seem to be hurting any. My sense of taste had been...

Re: Neuropathy improvement: individual experience

I'm so glad you're driving again, Mob! That is great news. I hope you continue to have many more months of improvement. My last oxaliplatin infusion was about 6 months ago now. My hands have improved significantly; the fingertips are still tingly when I touch things, but I think I have most of my fe...

Re: Confused husband

Welcome, and sorry for the reason you are here. I hope your wife's surgery goes well today. Please give us an update when you can. You should get a lot more answers after the surgery; they will do a detailed analysis of the mass and find out for sure if it was cancerous. Also as part of the surgery ...

Re: recovery from colonoscopy?

haha thanks. It makes a good story after the fact, but I would've been happy to skip having the experience completely! Things are definitely improving; I slept through the night and am now able to pass gas without having to sit on the toilet "just in case." I'm hoping I can go back t...

Post-colonoscopy c diff

Well, after calling my surgeon's nurse on Thursday at 8am and not getting a response from her until 4pm, I ended up taking Immodium on the surgeon's direction, which didn't help a bit. Ended up in the ER yesterday and I have c diff (fortunately not the hypervirulent strain), so Immodium was totally ...

recovery from colonoscopy?

I had my first full colonoscopy a week ago (after the one that got no further than my sigmoid tumor, a year ago). The results were good but I am taking a while to recover from the procedure. It included a split prep and about 6 hours of antibiotics including Metronidazole. All of that did a number o...

Re: Numbness in Rectal Area

I had this during and shortly after Folfox treatment. As far as I can tell it has gone away completely. I finished chemo in December and I am sure it took a few months to go away. It was odd and just seemed like numbness, no tingly sensation like with neuropathy. I have seen something like this ment...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

I've been thinking of you and your husband today. I hope you are making progress on getting answers to your questions, or at least moving closer to getting that information. I can't imagine what all of this has been like for both of you. It sounds like you have a firm grasp of what you need to know,...

Re: A forum suggestion - including location in Signatures

I had guessed that NH stood for New Hampshire! I don't think I could use my state's abbreviation in my name because I'm in Maryland. For the non-US folks, the abbreviation is MD. Wouldn't want people to think I'm a medical doctor; I'm not! :)

Re: upcoming colonoscopy and other things

Colonoscopy looks good! Healthy tissue, no polyps, and only one diverticule despite an early CT scan (before surgery) indicating pan-colonic diverticulosis. Not sure if it looked that way because of the near-blockage I had with the tumor, or what. My surgeon said that it's possible she took out some...
