Re: Time for hospice

This just plain stinks! My prayers are with you, prayers for stamina, comfort and grace, and your son that he'll be relatively pain free and comfort for his wife and family. Like Belle said, even knowing it probably won't be that long before we'll have to set up my hospice, my brain just can't fatho...

Re: I think, I guess, This is it !! Goodbye ??

Bless your heart! I'm praying it's not as bad as you think. Even if it is, he's gotten far in the journey so you know he's tough enough to take on whatever comes next. Font forget you're strong too even if you font think you are.

Re: Dick's Celebration of Life

What a wonderful way to say goodbye! Just lovely and peaceful - kind of the way I always picture you & Dick. I'm glad your family is staggering the time they're staying with you. Too often, there tons of people that there for you and, within a month, everyone's gone. And there you are... Just re...

Re: impacted ascending colon

I definitely think that seeing your GI is the best way to go. Make sure he has copies of colonoscopy and the report. Frankly, I'd be rethinking who I would have for a surgeon. He seems a little too laid back by the results. Just my opinion but his attitude really stood out to me. Let us know what th...

Re: Trying to take it all in

Wade, It's been 3 1/2 years since my diagnosis and 3 years since my surgery. I was fortunate that my liver was resected during that surgery. Unfortunately, they didn't know they didn't get it all until 4 months later. It's been a fight ever since. But I can still recall the gut wrenching reaction I ...

Re: one goal

Michael, I completely agree with your post. It's not an unattainable goal. My sister-in-law was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer in late January 2000 and died March 17, 2000. I was diagnosed on April 11, 2011 and I'm still here! I and the rest of us have benefited greatly from Jay Monahan's ex...

Re: Anyone (besides me) have an autoimmune disease?

I had an enlarged thyroid most of my adult life and was diagnosed in 1986 with Chronic Fatigue Immune Deficiency Syndrome (CFIDS). I first got sick in July 1985 and was finally diagnosed the following April. Funny, I just realized I got my cancer diagnosis in April. Hmm... At any rate, more targeted...

Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

Thanks guys are all the encouragement! Yesterday, was 50/50 day. I only hurt half the day. My brother & nephew came over and we watched the season premiere of Doctor Who and that was fun. I was worn out by the end of the aftershow and went to bed and slept until 12:30 pm! I really feel like I co...

Re: Guest Blog - "You Have Cancer"

Tina did a great job of articulating what those first few minutes are like. She right as well about what happens next. It's different for us all. The most common thing I would think is an overall sense of horror. Good job, Tina!

Re: Passing of BJL

Thanks for letting us know about BJL. He's still a part of Colon Club Family even if he was here infrequently. It's a terrible shame for anyone to die in their mid-twenties but to die from a disease that most people think of as an old person's disease, to me, makes it a double shame. My prayers will...

7 years is amazing, CBM! It's very kind of you to come back here just to give encouragement. You probably know important that can be. I hope you're able to enjoy the life you've fought so hard to have and look forward to you posting about year 8 next year.

Re: My friends not doing well

We all need heroes - at least I do. I heard from one of my cancer heroes today and her cancer, which she has been fighting for years is back and has spread. Like me, she's just about out of chemo options and surgery/radiation aren't options due to where it is, multiple areas, blah, blah, blah.... S...

Re: Peeling skin

Belle's right. He needs to let the onc know. As for the hands, like has been said, bag balm like Udder Cream works well. I also believe in Gold Bond Ultimate Restoring with CoQ10. It's great for his face when he starts getting the "steroid suntan" (over time, the steroids cause a darkening...
