Re: CT Scan Just came in Liver Met (one)

Don't panic about things that you cannot influence << I agree - easier said than done >>. As Basil said, there are many options these days. Keep in mind that you're in the hands of docs who have spent half their lives understanding cancer. One good thing is that you already know is that your CEA may...

More Good News
Had the official review. Onc proposes to do the next checkup in June and then move to annual.
Feels like I'm slowly getting off the hook . . . .

Stage IV, very happy to be still NED after 4 years

Hi dear ColoncClubbers, I'm now 5 yrs after Dx and 4 yrs after liver surgery. Did progress to bi-annual checkups in Nov 2016, and had a routine CT with blood work Thursday (Nov 30). Funny that, although life has returned to almost normal and check-ups have become routine, I'm always short fused some...

Re: NEW-Need some positivity here.

So depressed tonight. The waiting for surgery is horrific. I need to stop feeling so hopeless. Your stories help. But I still read all the terrible endings. I feel just lost... Hi Teacher, sorry to see you in distress. We've all been there. The uncertainty of the first weeks are especially difficul...

Re: What was everyone's symptoms of colon cancer

None that I worried about. Had (one day only) a tiny bit of blood in stool, that I neglected. Went into retirement a few months later and then had a relaxed chat with our family doctor on ageing and the kind of support that I (don't) want in the years ahead out of the principle that those things sho...

Re: GI Surgeon wants chest added back to my ct scan

Obvious: CAP=chest abdomen pelvis. Thanks DE/CR for clarifying.
DE wrote: . . . why the protocol is to take chest off of the scans if the first year ct scans are normal?

I'm on 6-mos scans now (stage IV - approaching 4 yrs since surgery):
- abdomen/pelvis each scan
- chest added every other one (=annual)

. . . eating pickles while on chemo will help with my taste buds. anyone ever hear of that or have any thoughts or ideas if that will work My experience: try anything that you can think of. I was terrified about the removal of the staples too. Had plenty after the liver resection - must have been 25 or 30 or so.
It turned out not bad at all - all fear subdued once the first 3 or 4 went out easily.
