Wow that’s incredible. I wonder how many of them are adopting and servicing the Medtronic pumps.
I deactivated Facebook several years ago but I might have to rejoin just for this group. I wonder if there’s a way I can filter everything else out....
I had rectal bleeding and was prescribed hydrocortisone suppositories, but they didn’t stop the bleeding at all. I’m just one case though. Get the colonoscopy if it will give you peace of mind. The risk is very low.
I will be there on November 7 as well, getting treatment. Maybe I'll see you in the waiting room! Great to hear about Northwestern. I'm still curious to see how other pump programs adopt the Medtronic pump. I'll just have to ask Dr. Kemeny's team about it.
Cartech, do you know your KRAS mutation? If you are KRAS wild, you may be able to get into Dr Kemeny's clinical trial, which uses the Codman pump and only has to be serviced every six weeks. Did they say anything about that when you called them?
Please post here if you find out who else manages Medtronic pump programs! I’ll try to do some of my own research as well. This will be helpful to me as I think about how long I want to keep and maintain my pump. I am sure that more and more pump programs will be switching to it as it comes online.
Thanks for the info, cartech. It's possible I wasn't included in this study because Dr. Jarnagin wasn't my surgeon, and it looks like he's one of the principals. However, I seem to be the perfect candidate for it, so I'll ask if I can be enrolled. It looks like it just started on October 18. I like ...
Glad you are getting second opinions. I would recommend looking into the HAI pump if you can, especially since you are young. It delivers powerful chemo directly to the liver with no side effects. You just have to be monitored for liver toxicity.
Hi @cartech78, happy to help. I thought about DM'ing you, but then thought this info might be helpful to others so posting it here. Sorry chadwick for hijacking your thread! If you are starting treatment on Monday, then you will most likely not get a second opinion from MSK. I tried to get a second ...
You are right that if you have a lung met you would not be a candidate for the HAI pump. Definitely wise to put off chemo until they determine what the lung nodule is and if it needs to be removed. When I was seeking opinions about my liver met, I saw a couple different surgeons. One recommended che...
So sorry to hear this. My liver resection was easier than the LAR and a faster recovery. Just watch out for abdominal muscle spasms caused by young muscles - those were painful! Would you mind elaborating on why your onc said to save chemo for later if it comes back? I am getting mop up chemo to red...
I was allowed to drink tea on my prep day, as long as it didn't have milk in it. Maybe different prep regimes are different, but I was also allowed to have caffeine. I ended up having a cup of herbal tea the day before and it was fine. (Now the Suprep was a different story, lol).
People have different reactions on the gastric side of things. I had some diarrhea from Xelox, but others can have the opposite reaction, although I think diarrhea is more common. Since I had an ileostomy I didn’t notice it as much. After a few days you will know how your body reacts and what is nor...
I would think that, if the other prep worked for you, they would let you use it! If it gets your colon cleaned out, then that’s all that matters. I would like to use your prep next time.
