Anyone Managing Stage IV with Avastin Only?

Hi all,

I've been on maintenance Avastin for awhile. Is anyone else doing it? It seems to control my disease, but wondering if anyone stopped and what the outcome was?

Re: Newly diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer at 42. Looking for hope and inspiration.

Hi, I'm starting my 10th year. I'm NED at the present time and doing Avastin only. It seems to be controlling it. My last recurrence was in March 2016. My oldest was 10 and my twins were 7 when I was Dx. It can happen. I still work and live a pretty "normal" life. I've always been pretty a...

Checking in to say Hello. Stage IV still NED

Hi all,

Happy new year. I don't post often, but happy to say I'll be starting year #10 NED. Still doing avastin only (since I dropped xeloda 9/17).

I hope everyone has a great year and praying for new breakthroughs for us all this year.

Re: Input & comments sought on stage IV treatment plan

The only thing I can share is that when I did chemo, my liver met completely disappeared and did not come back for 3 years. I had my liver resection when it came back. Good luck. Having a plan always feels so good. I wish you the best!

Re: Xeloda + Avastin Maintenance for NED people

I went back to Xeloda+Avastin in March of 2016 when I had a recurrence in my abdomen. I was NED by Dec 2016. I kept on it until Sept of 2017 and then dropped the Xeloda. I'm still doing avastin only every three weeks without much trouble. I've been NED for almost 2 years. If it comes back, will prob...

Re: Stage 4 to NED- Please tell us

Mattie, what are your thoughts on the FOLFOX vs. Xeloda. At my last appointment, my onc offered both as viable options but that FOLFOX had more data behind it overall because it's been around longer. He also implied that Xeloda might have more side effects for caucasians (?). With that data I went ...

Re: Stage 4 to NED- Please tell us

Hi.

Don't despair. I know it's scary...been there. 8.5 years later I am still here. I am in and out of NED. My journey below. My life has not changed much except for treatment every three weeks. I'm still living, working and managing my disease.

I wish you and your hubby the best.

Sue

Anyone have a Dye Study on their Port?

For the last couple of treatments, my port has not been returning anything. They've been using cathflow to try and clean things out, but it's not working. Hoping I don't have to deal with replacing....avastin seems to be going in okay.... Appreciate hearing about any experiences and outcomes... Than...

Re: Any Stage IV currently in NEDville? Please share any advice or tips? P

Hi There. I don't really have any tips. I have had recurrences but have been able to beat them back down each time. My signature has my history. It doesn't really get easier, although I try to convince myself otherwise. Each time I have a recurrence I think it's the beginning of the end....but then ...

Back to NED again!

All, Just wanted to share some good news. I am stage IVb and experienced a recurrence almost a year ago. After xeloda/avastin for nearly a year, I"m back to NED again. This treatment is working, so I'm going to stay on it for awhile longer. Hoping to get a chemo break soon. I'm coming up on my ...

Just checking in.

6.5 years out. They think the rib thing is damage from SBRT. Latest scan shows a fracture. Going to wait and see. It "might" not be cancer but can't know for sure. Still doing Xeloda and Avastin. It's keeping everything under control so far. Side effects minimal. Stiff, Tired, Sore feet. G...

Re: Chemo Lifer

Hi Marejenny, I'm also a 4B. I'm coming up on 6.5 years, with no end in sight yet.:-) Info in my signature below. I was in remission for a long time after my first round of Chemo. I've been aggressive with Radiation and surgery when just one or two things popped up. This year 5 thingy's popped, so I...
