Re: VEGF and TGF beta 1

I wouldn't disparage Avastin too much. I am surprised that you were not put on it at the time you had FOLFOX. Its side effects really are very minor when compared to the Oxaliplatin, 5-FU or Irinotecan. When My wife was on Irinotecan, Avastin and Erbitux without the 5-FU she thought that was a piece...

Re: COVID and Vitamin D

I have been taking High dose Vit D for a few years now. I don't spend a lot of time outdoors and when I do I cover up. I started taking it when a friend said it helped her with some joint and or bone pain. I had also read that its has a potential to be protective against colon cancer. I don't know i...

Re: HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Yes - I had a very nice Thanksgiving holiday with my dearly departed wife's sister and her husband. I am grateful that they still include me as a member of the family especially seeing as I am dating another woman now who happens to be a breast cancer survivor (a mutual friend introduced us). Unfort...

Might be useful to know the time zone? There are 24 Noons around the world :D Can't tell which time zone you or Lmanners31 are in or if in the same. This is a good start.

Good luck!

At the top of the forum topics there are several that are pined to the top. One is titled: SUPPORT GROUPS - Local Nationwide Please List Yours! http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=31958 You might want to take a look at that and see if there are groups or links to online g...

Re: My first Avastin treatment.

It has a tendency to raise ones blood pressure. Usually they prescribe a BP med. My wife was on an ACE inhibitor (Lisinopril) at the lowest dose while on Avastin. Her BP was always low because she was very athletic and was a runner. So the worst side effect from Avastin was the blood streaks in the ...

Re: Colon Club mentioned in the Miami Herald

Thank you for sharing Grouseman. I hope you are doing well. I am doing OK. I started dating a breast cancer survivor, and that has made things easier. This is a rough time of year for me. 3rd anniversary of my wife's passing coming up. This Covod-19 stuff is bothersome, but for the most part doesn'...

Colon Club mentioned in the Miami Herald

FYI an interesting article was run in the Miami Herald in which the Colon Club was mentioned.

Here is the Link:

This turned up in one of my news feeds.

Re: Hello - I'm new here

Good for you! My wife worked full time as an engineer up until 4 months before she passed away. She tolerated Chemo very well and was never really on a break from it. Would leave the infusion center and drive to work afterwards. Although she never had Folfiri and avastin she did the other combinatio...

Re: should I send this letter to my husband's onc (or not)?

Well - you seem, to be pretty well informed. Perhaps better than your husbands oncologist on the face of things. BUT he does have the medical degree and my experience has been that many of these guys have an attitude when someone questions their knowledge. Its also possible that the oncologist has o...

Re: FOLFOX differences

Mostly they differ in the timing and dosage of the components that make up the drug combination. Oncologists select the protocol based on their experiences more than anything else I think. Personal preference maybe. By and large I don't think there is much difference clinically in the outcomes depen...

Follow up about Vitamin C. I recommend a quick read of the following which gives some perspective and is bound to result in some discussion on Derek's Blog Forums. This is from In the Pipeline by Derek Lowe a Medicinal Chemist who is a well known blogger, of Chemistry and Drug Discovery: https://blo...

Re: DK37 Science Posts List

OK - Here is a new post on Vitamin C. We have in the past had members of this forum try High dose IV Vitamin C infusions to treat their cancers. Its been long held that this has anti-cancer properties, but so far not enough evidence, and certainly - I doubt it has done little more that stem the tide...

Re: Hope vs reality

Well - It was especially difficult for me as a caregiver, and former Anticancer drug discovery chemist. I very much knew what the diagnosed meant. The very advanced staging I pretty much knew what to expect, talk about despair that I tried very hard to keep to myself! My wife kept up a pretty positi...
