How long do abdominal blocks last?

I had follow up surgery Thursday for abdominal pains I've been having since last surgery. They found and cut some adhesions and put in a block. How long does a block normally last? I've regained feeling on sides and upper abdomen but around my belly button and down I still can't feel anything until ...

Re: I'm getting worried

Couple updates. I asked for a new primary and my request was granted so I'll be getting new one in next week or two. Sept 21st I'm having a colonoscopy, assuming benign results surgery is scheduled for Oct 1st to go back in laparoscopically and look for and get rid of adhesions. That said I was able...

Re: Post sigmoidectomy pain

February 25th I had my gallbladder removed lapriscopically and part of sigmoid colon removed via robot. I was in hospital an extra day or 2 because of pain and bowels taking while to wake up. About 2 weeks after surgery I felt great and wasn't even taking Tylenol. For last couple weeks though I've ...

Re: I'm getting worried

Have another appointment now with surgeon next Monday, sounds like he is going to want to do put camera in abdomen to check for scarring.
Anyone know if that means another 6 weeks out of work?

Re: I'm getting worried

Update: Reached back out to surgeon and awaiting response. Basically I can minimize pay by inactivity but I can't be as inactive as I need to be without going crazy because it basically means I would have to walk slowly and sit most of day. Still getting pains mostly upper right and left abdomen. We...

Re: I'm getting worried

Thank you. Update from appt today: i was told that it's possible gastritis and that when it hurts to try tums to see if it helped. If it does then I should get stomach scoped. Tums didn't help today though but I'll keep trying for this week to be sure. Also said it could be entrapped nerve at the su...

Re: I'm getting worried

Had CT Last Monday. It didn't see anything that would be causing my issues. Surgeon told me to use ice and heat on painful areas and to reach out in 2 weeks if was still having issues. I sent message saying I was still having issues and I see him Tuesday for him to personally check things out. I'll ...

Re: I'm getting worried

Thanks everyone. I've been taking it easy this weekend and little things hurt so I'm pretty sure it is an adhesion. I had the ripping and tearing pains month or so ago intermittently. The more I pay attention it seems like yes being really active makes it worse but even if I'm taking it easy simple ...

Re: I'm getting worried

I went to appointment today and saw a PA. She said she talked about my case with my surgeon. She didn't feel any bulges from the laprascopic site and I haven't either. I use the VA for healthcare and let me just say this community Care practice I've been seeing is amazing. They actually listen to me...

Re: I'm getting worried

Going back to surgeons office today. Pain has been getting pretty bad and frequent around my upper left incision site. Doesn't look infected or anything but this last week it's really ramped up from hurting when I walk too fast at work to hurting a lot of the time even with rest. Sleep is getting di...

Re: Post sigmoidectomy pain

I saw lab work and WBC was a little elevated and no one seemed concerned. Surgeon told me that as long as caliber of stool was good and no other issues to wait a few weeks. If problem persisted to let him know and he would order a CT. The diverticulitis type pain has gone away which is good. Tomorro...

Re: Diverticulitis?

How did this turn out for you? Diverticulosis are the pouches and don't cause pain. When those pouches get infected then you get diverticulitis which is painful. Diverticulitis is no joke. First time I had it was the worst. Went to VA ER when things were getting better and they didn't want to do CT ...

Re: Post sigmoidectomy pain

Don't have results yet but Primary is checking for urinary tract infection which I don't think I have. Talked with surgeon today. He said the intermittent incision pain is likely just nerves rebuilding and should be fine. I also told him that yesterday I had some blood streaked in stool which surpri...

Re: Post sigmoidectomy pain

Hell YEAH mention it ! you have a problem and the DOCS need to get you some info and relief ! Could be healing / scarring / adhesions etc. etc .etc. BUTT if they don't even get involved ... you are still in pain. You can read my bio here and one thing I have always said : " sometimes pain is i...
