Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

Darn it. The Albany surgeon's office has informed me that because the surgery was not done by their surgeons, they cannot do surgery on my husband unless he is in the ER. Great. So in order to get my husband prompt care, in the event that MSK takes too long to follow-up, my husband has to be again i...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

Thanks, Jannine. We got home yesterday. My husband thankfully can work out of home this week and is going to be sleeping as much as he possibly needs so he fully recovers. He had not had a good full night's sleep in over a week. I have been following another case of catheter dislodge that is current...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

Yeah, but from what I understand given advice from a couple of people in the medical profession, a CT w/o contrast for a bleed is essentially useless. Of course I am not going to be satisfied until we get a clearer picture. Going by the only report we currently have, there are four areas of concern ...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

The report from the interventional radiology procedure last Tuesday at MSK has finally arrived in the portal. Interestingly there is no mention of the embolization that was performed on the pancreas. At least that is a procedure that one of his nurse's mentioned to me that was done when I called the...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

We are doing well, especially after going to MSK-Westchester yesterday afternoon for a blood draw that showed excellent progress with his hemoglobin. It is up to 10.3!!! That is higher than Sunday last week when first in the ER in Vermont. With relief from that news, I got a great night's sleep last...

Re: Back after almost 10 years NED - Ascites, Peri & Liver Mets!

Oh my god. Reading this during this juncture in my husband's life terrifies me.

Best of luck to your husband!

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

We just got a call from Dr. Kemeny who apparently had forgotten that she had told me on Friday that she wanted to see my husband today. I had uploaded the CT w/o contrast report to her office this morning expressing the concerns that I expressed here. Thankfully, she called us in regard to this and ...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

radnyc, Yeah, well, the only scans there are that I am aware of between the time of the catheter dislodge and now are those from our local hospital in Vermont and Albany Med. I do not know what scans may have been done when he was in interventional radiology Tuesday night at MSK. I do not believe th...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

I have been reading about aneurysms and pseudo-aneurysms (which is how I would characterize what happened) of the gastroduodenal artery and apparently the mortality rate is 40%. He is so very lucky to be alive. My logical side has a very hard time believing in God or a Higher Power, whatever one wan...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

I started a new thread titled "HAI pump nightmare" that has received not one comment. Interesting. So, there is far too much to type if I was to provide an update on this forum now. I don't have the time at the moment as there has been so many events and developments. The one major concern...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

Hi Gina, Indeed I had many a concern, not only about the pump--catheter being investigatory but about the pump generally in terms of the risks of HAI FUDR. If I am correct that the particular Codman catheter used in this adaptation is the same model that MSK has used for many years with the old Codm...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

It's a shitstorm that seems to have no end. At least that is how it feels. What had actually happened was that the catheter dislodged from my husband’s artery. (We had been emphatically assured that that was a rare event by Dr. D'Angelica. Ugh.) He is so very lucky to be alive as when this happens p...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

Thank you. At MSK now finally. They brought him into interventional radiology to do possible embolization depending on what they find. They will also maybe put a stent around the catheter because it looks like the catheter is leaking. I honestly don't know if I'm separating things or mixing things u...

Re: Anyone pass out after abdominal cramping??? ER time

EMT friend, Who is with him right now, says that our local hospital is transferring him down to New York City (MSK). I don’t know why but I assume it has to do with the results of the CT scan.
