Re: Stupid Q of the Day: How do I know it's really cancer?

How do I know the tumor is cancerous? Are doctors just making observations to determine cancer at this juncture? Do I call the doctor who did the colonoscopy? I'm not even sure that doctor took a specimen. Cynthia These folks have been through medical school. They generally know cancer when they se...

Re: Stupid Q of the Day: How do I know it's really cancer?

Thank you for the help and insight you've already given. My sweet husband is strengthening so much to be ready for the 9/19 surgery next week. The surgeon will remove tumor (and lymph nodes? how do I know? idk) and says will try to do a J-pouch or D-pouch with a yet-to-be decided type of ostomy. Su...

Re: Rectal pain? From the tumor?

If he already went through radiation, as the tumor is tearing away it can feel like there is glass coming out sometimes. it will subside. On the other hand some people think that enough chemo will do the trick, and try to avoid radiation. One fellow I was doing chemo with tried to avoid radiation, ...

Re: Take me away to that special place - Picture Thread

It's possible that Karen is checking up on this thread. I know she is a big lover of dogs. Bluebonnet season is a big deal here in Central TX. It lasts a good 6 weeks, and we get pics of all sorts of things in the bluebonnet fields, longhorns, goats, chickens, babies, police officers, cats, the lis...

Re: APR surgery for low rectal tumor

My Pete had VLR Tumor 11/11. We had 4 opinions. 2 said 80/20 we can save the sphincters, one said 50/50 and said APR. We went with one fantastic, ace-surgeon who spent almost 4 hours hand-sewing the connection since a stapler would not have worked. My hero. Pete is doing great.....so anyone who has...

Re: Back after almost 10 years NED - Ascites, Peri & Liver Mets!

I have a similar problem, and hope things go well. I did have 16 rounds of chemo after surgery. I'm 63 now. I won't go through chemo again , or radiation. I decided I didn't want to waste time and money on things that would restrict my life, that would end up with the same outcome, and not leave a p...

Re: Reversal Log: Experience,Problems, Q & A's

Another trivial question???????? So I do think the reversal log is a great idea,,,, Any pictullar type of incontinence underwear I should get,,, don't want to get 10 different varieties, before I get the right one, Obviously people may have different preferences but I'm sure there may be a common o...
