Re: O/T Fav website not cancer related..what's yours?

Rix, I owned a a vintage 5x10 Sunspot for four year - bought it during my 1st remission, sold it after I developed spinal mets. Then my bone mets seemed to improve and a friend was selling his 4x8 homebuilt teardrop. I bought it, was only able to take it out once last fall before the weather and my ...

Re: Help- how to clean after chemo/radiation?

Well, not to stray too fat OT, but until I became bedridden a month ago, I considered myself a camper, too - in fact one of my challenges is figuring out how much camping stuff to give away and how much to make up into a 2nd camping box for my dog friends to use on our annual camping trip at a local...

Re: APR surgery one week away for hubby-HELP!

Jeanette, please stop making yourself crazy about cleaning. Your brother is incorrect (he's also a few other things, but I'm trying to use polite language.) I posted my cleaning and family management suggestions in your other thread, but for those who only read this one, your house is NOT contaminat...

Re: Help- how to clean after chemo/radiation?

Your family is incorrect and superstitious. Those are the two gentlest words I can think of to describe their behavior. Yes, there are certain things and times about which we need to be careful - bodily fluids, certain intense types of radiation (after which the radiologist will GIVE you a "rad...

Re: Two session = two hospitalization ????

The more I read the replies, the more I believe it is the oxi. Hmm...well, the replies aren't telling me what your husband experienced - you did that. And from what you described, and my own experience with oxaliplatin vs. 5FU reactions, my money is on the 5FU reaction . Oxi reactions are usually i...

Re: Some basic forum (and internet) precautions

One thing everyone should be aware of - earlier this year, there was an ASCO study presentation on The Place of Web Forums in the Cancer Experience . "The researchers picked two internet CRC support forums based on four criteria: "Two of the most active CRC web forums were identified using...

Re: Ladies, why didn't you mention sex or dilators

Y'know, if you'd done a search on this forum on sex life and rectal cancer, you'd have gotten a passel of threads about this very suject (for men AND women.) Sex may never have occurred to you - but OTOH, asking why nobody here ever mentioned sex for your benefit is a little bit unfai, don't you thi...

Some basic forum (and internet) precautions

There are a lot of newbie (just a month or two) registrants posting on the forums these days, and as I was catching up on threads this morning, I was noticing a lot of things that can really put an individual's privacy at risk. I don't know if that's because people aren't used to posting on forums, ...

Re: Why do I keep worrying about this and what can I do abou

My onc gets annoyed that I Google and learn things. If you were his patient he would probably retire. lol JB, it takes time to build a relationship between doctor and patient...and it takes some work on both sides. Chances are, your onc isn't annoyed that you "Google and learn things," bu...

Re: So there I was...(Thanks Kyle!)

What I've found from my research and through my nutritionist is that the sugar in fruits and veggies are natural fructose or glucose and is what the body was made to process normally. Natural sugars contain the same number of calories as added sugar, and still raise your blood sugar, but they come ...

Re: Erbitecan or Irinotux?

Actually, BB, until you mentioned the nasal passages, I'd forgotten about them. The chapping I'm talking about is around mouth and nose, visible. I had to cancel an interview at a food event because I didn't feel I could interview chefs while I looked like I had a contagious disease, so did the inte...

Re: So there I was...(Thanks Kyle!)

I personally don't like a lot of the V8 stuff. A few of them are good (I started with the pomegranate blueberry) but a lot of sugar ... Fresh squeezed/juiced fruits and veggies have a much better smell/taste to them over the bottled stuff IMO. Usually freshly squeezed or juiced fruit/veggies do hav...

Re: Erbitecan or Irinotux?

I think I'd just call it Erbitux + Irinotecan. Dr. Personality tends to cook up personalized dosing regimens that don't always fit into established "cocktail" names. And she does modify them as you go along (which is how I realized I was on less than 1/4 the dose of her standard HAI pump +...
