Pollo, you are the lady who had an aorta met. No way could anyone accuse you of giving up. You are truly one of our heros.

Re: I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone....HIPEC

My daughter had peritoneal mets. She had chemo, then a failed HIPEC, more chemo and then a laparoscopic "look and see" surgery. The surgeon saw that the mets were dying off from the chemo. She had HIPEC a month later and had the cancer removed. She didn't recover well though, her body was ...

Re: When to get a colonoscopy with family history??

I think if you can get your doctor to order a colonoscopy, insurance will cover it. Our daughter was diagnosed at age 25 and so my husband, younger daughter and I all had colonoscopies paid by insurance and repeated them three years later also paid by insurance. During this time my 40 year old male ...

Thanks so much for giving us her background info, it is greatly appreciated to learn more about her. I can't believe she was such a long term survivor with signet ring cell, b...

Re: If today was your last day

You know the scene from "Beaches" where the dying woman gets to go sit with oxygen on the beach? That would be my choice.

We don't always get a choice, but it would be nice!

Re: Does anyone have a concierge GP?

My husband's family practice doctor joined MDVIP for 2015. So we joined because my husband has food allergies, lung issues and past history of pulmonary embolism. We felt it was worth the money because of his health issues. So far it's been great. We met with his doctor for over an hour in January a...

Re: Experience needed for Suspected Peritoneal Met

Peritoneal mets may very well not show on ct because often they are very small, 2-3 mm and that's too small to show. As for the retained "poo", I had a sister-in law with breast cancer who had a blockage in her colon soon after diagnosis in 2009 and had a colostomy. She lived until May 201...

Re: no large bowel and partial small bowel

This was the situation my daughter had. We talked to our pharmacist who was a runner and he recommended Ensure drinks and also protein powder. She liked the chocolate drinks and then I put protein powder in foods like mashed potatos and fruit smoothies. You might talk to a dietician or a nutritionis...

Re: Stage 4 cancer.... I want to stop chemo?

I think that is totally the patients decision. I've been the caregiver twice. Honestly, I wouldn't want to live the way cancer is at the end stage. If its ok with your spouse (or even not ok) its your life and your choice. And you might get some time feeling healthy and get to live and enjoy life.

Re: Typing through tears....our belle Belle

Oh no! I have been afraid every day to see this message. I emailed back and forth with Belle, she is one of our heroes. I know there is discussion here lately on "why do we get cancer?". I dont know why cancer exists, but having the privilege of "meeting" people like Belle online...

Re: Still Cured- but Greiving at loss of son

I am so sorry about your son. But I believe the universe puts us where we are needed. That's why we all belong to Colon Club. And yes, you are here on earth for your daughter-in-law and grand kids. Bless you in your time of mourning. It will get better eventually but there is no quick fix for this g...

Exaussie and Chixter, I know your pain. We've celebrated Lauren's 29th and 30th birthdays. My husband, our daughter Jenn and son-in-law Bob always visit the cemetery first. I have a bouquet made all in pink abd with a small barbie doll in the arrangement, Lauren's fav. Then we go out to dinner and r...

Re: thinking of you, BELLE

Belle, I don't know why cancer is doing this to you at this point in time. But I want you to know you have made my experience with colon cancer so much better with your knowledge and support. I know there's a way to send messages from "the other side" and I look forward to seeing the one y...
