Happy Thanksgiving - One Year Since Chemo

I had my 5-FU pumped disconnected, hopefully for the last time, on black Friday 2016. Last thanksgiving was very different from this one, as I sat alone with my father listening to the whining of my chemo pump. A year has passed since, and I am glad to say that, per my October 30th scan I am still N...

Re: 33 year old - Stage 4 - no family history

I am sorry this happened to you. This is a great place to be to ask questions and get comforted by people who understand what you are going through. All the best on this long journey. I pray you will come through this okay.

Re: New here. Just found out I have stage 3

Hi Hopegirl,

I come on the site all the time just to read the stories of all the many people on here who are alive and "well." You are going to be okay, you can beat this.

Re: Anyone diagnosed in their 20's?

I was diagnosed a month after I turned 29. That was rough. Walking into the oncology center when you are 30 years younger than everyone in the infusion room is tough. Planning for the future is pretty tough too. But, we are still young and have the strength to fight, even if it feels like the immort...

Re: Traveling on chemo?

I think having a vacation during chemo is a great way to lift the spirits, and gather energy. Ask your mom how she feels, and where she wants to go. She is most aware of what she can physically tolerate. On the other hand i think cbsmith raises some very valid points. If your mom is potentially immu...

Re: Sending hope to the newly diagnosed

It is sad seeing stories of new diagnoses, but with each day that goes by we get closer to closing this awful chapter of life and moving on to new and happier chapters (congratulations on the babies). For some it's fighting for the next day, others months, scans, then years. There is hope, and stori...

Re: A Difficult Year

I am really sorry for all you have been through, that is enough pain and strain for a lifetime, and packed into a year. I really hope things get better for you and your family.

It's good to hear from you and congratulations on the good news. It's hard to be good at "life" after dealing with a terrible ordeal. All the best with the next scan.

This is very sad to hear. I didn't know her well, but her butterfly avatar jumped into my mind. I will miss seeing it. May her soul be free, and rest well.
