Re: O/T...Post Your Pics Here

Peanut loved that picture of the sunset. Pretty awesome and I can think of worse things to look at of an evening. Sydney loves to put on fireworks on NYE, and this was was a bit of a damper.....huge thunderstorms from 5PM - 8PM. Then I went to a pub across the road (like about 50 yards across the ro...

Re: BrownBagger ....... I don't know what to say

I did some cleaning on NYE, I took my hard copy printed scans that I got at dx (ok I still have the soft copies), and my wife and I shredded them together at work. Time to put cancer behind me, to move on and start a new stage of our lives. Finish the 5 years and start 2019 afresh. I went out for a ...

Re: Stage IV, 26 weeks pregnant, Merry Christmas!

I’m impressed that you’re doing a 1/2 whilst that much pregnant :D running whilst in Chemo is doable but let’s assume you go on FOLFOX, in which case the issue will be the OX (oxaliplatin) as it has cumulative neaurapthy effects. For me that made running hard as at one point my feet got painful befo...

Re: Newly diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer at 42. Looking for hope and inspiration.

Hi Opal
2 weeks short of my 6 year mark and there is always hope.
Currently not on any treatment.
Let's hope you can be in that place too.

Re: How to support my husband??

Something the Oncologist said to my wife and I, was something my wife took hold of and it became a mantra for her. I liked it as she pulled it out when I was feeling down on things a lot. Simply put, no matter what the statistics are, they are for you and your husband either 0% or 100%. I too love s...

Re: Almost 6 years

Hi Julie The cat is now 13 years old :D so I need to look after him. He has a scratching post that is on steroids as it is probably about 7' in height with 3 levels. I'll take a photo and post it so you can see. I have no decorating ability but Mrs Kiwi seriously is good at it so she is having fun, ...

Re: Almost 6 years

Hi All Thanks for your responses, and I hope that it was a bit of a good news story. I always found that I enjoyed reading the positive, and sometimes trivial, posts on the board as it provides a good balance to the tough, heart breaking and challenging posts. I am always much better at the trivial ...

Re: Almost 6 years

Hi All The last 6 years have been hard, I have made a lot of friends on the board, and I have seen a lot of them pass when, for some unknown reason, I am now thriving. Mentally, I found it hard to let go of the fact I was a "cancer patient" and have only this year started to embrace a new ...

Re: Constipation vs Bowel Blockage whats the difference?

Hi CPTMAC I'd say you have constipation as you'd "REALLY" know if you had a blockage. Just like Lee, I'd get them several times a year and I'd go from feeling fine and functioning as a normal human being, to being doubled over with pain, taking pain killers which didn't help, to asking my ...

Almost 6 years

Hi All 6 years ago I purchased a new house. As part of that purchase my wife insisted I get the persistent bleeding that the doctors kept telling me was due to a myriad of reasons that had me doing tests for 6 months. I was able to get a colonoscopy, woke up to find out I had cancer, did a ct scan, ...

Re: Weight

Hi Pantufla, I'll preface this message that I am 5'8" and 120 lbs so I have not been in your husbands situation. I don't pretend to understand how hard it is to loose that much weight or what challenges he has on his day to day life. My view and reading on what I could do to avoid a recurrence ...

Re: Stage 4 to NED- Please tell us

I have been on this board for over 5 years now and I have seen a lot of people come and go. I have seen a number who's situation looked dire go on to be NED from stage IV. There is no telling what may, or may not happen. It is obviously extremely hard to face a stage IV diagnosis, and there is the n...

That is really sad. She was always a really positive influence, no matter what issues she faced herself.

Hi Stu
Good to see the photo of your Mum and glad she is doing so well. May she continue to be a beacon of hope to you, and to others, including myself on this board.

Re: Bev G

Wow, that comes as a bit of a shock. She was always so positive and helpful. I noted that she had been quieter on the boards than in the past and I put that down to the loss of Gwen and some of the other genuine friends that she made on this board. Colon Talk will be a sadder place without her mothe...
