Re: For those who have NOT had recurrance whatever the stage

Dad has been NED since 5/2009, knock wood.

I come back and check in and send healing thoughts while I lurk, since I don't have too much to post that is helpful. I remind myself that things may change instant, and not to take this remission for granted.

Re: Colon/Liver Resection and Adjuvant Chemo

After Dad's liver resection, he had either 2 or 3 rounds of xeloda alone. He was also taking his supplement (IP6). That was in 2009, and, knock wood, no recurrence. He does still take the IP6. His mets were over 95% dead when resected, which may be significant.

Re: Anyone use naturopath protocols in tandem with chemo etc

I am wondering if anyone is or has used protocal set by a naturopath in tandem with traditional treatment. The oncologist today rolled his eyes at it and even suggested some things could be contrary to chemo. Then I talked to the naturopath and he claims anything they do is complimentary and doesn'...

Re: Vit C IV

I had vitamin C infusions for my dog, when he was very ill, fighting some weird combination of infection and cancer. It gave me many extra months with him, and made him feel better. Mind you, he ultimately had a very aggressive cancer that dogs get that is very aggressive with no good treatment. I w...

Re: Metastic Liver Mets - Reoccurence almost 96% sure?

Dad had two liver mets, one in each lobe. One was 6x6 cm, and the other was about 1.6x2.2 cm. This was shortly after his colon resection. While he had consistently taken selenium, when he started Xelox, he also started the supplement IP6 (Enzymatic Therapy's Cell Forte IP6 with Inositol). After 3 ro...

You might also want to look into IP6 and curcumin for colon cancer.

Re: Dandelion Root Tea & Colostrum Pills

The colostrum will boost your immune system. I don't know if it boosts the right part of your immune system to fight the cancer, since that is very complicated it seems. If you have any type of autoimmune issues, I would advise against colostrum. Dandelion is good for the liver, and I think is a bit...

Re: Cancer markers

Dad's CEA was low (below 3) when he had his colon resected. Later when it had metastasized to his liver, then it had shot up and has been a good marker since, at least so far that we know. Recheck next week, cross fingers...

If there is a local ostomy support group, they might also have members that could use the supplies.

Cetuximab (Erbitux) allergy and meat allergy and tick bites?

I did a search and didn't see this posted before, so thought I'd pass it along. Someone had sent me this article, which is way over my head: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3057034/ and it looks like there is a previous article: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3085643/ It is ...

I believe that there is evidence for compounds of most of those things independently, but form and bioavailability of course is a factor.

Re: Age Factor and Colostomy

My mom had a C Diff infection and lost her colon. She had an illeostomy at 84 years old, in 2009. She can empty the bag herself, but she can't change it because of her vision, and possibly, even then, with her mobility issues, might not be able to. My Dad has been just wonderful and changes the bag ...
