Re: newly diagnosed mom to two boys - chemo started, ne

Don't know anything about Stanford, but as far as your CEA going up some when starting chemo, I wouldn't worry about it at this point. My husbands actually almost doubled from 3.3 to 5.7 after he started his chemo and stayed elevated till about one month post chemo and them came back down to his nor...

Re: Four years out (almost) -- thoughts on caregiving and th

Lydia, I can completely relate to all that you say and feel. I have been a care giver for my husband for three and a half years now. He has been doing well for over two years now and seems to have his health back to pre cancer status. I myself am still very tired and stressed. I understand what you ...

Re: New Here: stage 2a treatment options?

Weisssoccermon, Ok, I'll do my best, but remember my husband's case was very, very unusual. When he was diagnosed, they at first thought he had a walled in appendex. Thru further investigation, he was found to have a cancerous tumer in his cecum which was causing the wall of intestine (cecum ) to pus...

Re: New Here: stage 2a treatment options?

Weisssoccermon, My husbands case was very unusual which is another reason why we went to MD anderson for a second opinion. He was re-staged there and he was a stage lla t4. The oncologist at Md anderson said it is unusal, but does happen. I thought the same thing your saying, that you can't be a t4 ...

Re: New Here: stage 2a treatment options?

My husband was a stage lla also, but he was a t4 with lymph vessel involvement. All of his 34 lymph nodes were negative for cancer. Because of him being a t4, they recommended chemo, folfox. We traveled to MD Anderson cancer center for a second opinion and they also recommended 12 treatments of folf...

Re: Reg when to remove chemo port

My husband had his removed 3 months after his last treatment. His oncologist said that if there was a relap, then they would just put it back in. When my husband finished treatments, he didn't want any reminders if his disease, so out it came. He got to the point that every time he would take a show...

Re: Pros and cons of Pain Catheter

When my husband had his surgery he had a pain cath put in. They told him that his recovery would go faster the sooner he was able to get up and walk around some. The pain cath helped him to do this. I think it helps speed up your recovery.

Hope all goes well,

Re: A Small Celebration and Fear

I'm happy that you have finished your treatments. When my husband finished his treatments, I in a way felt very releived and thought I would start feeling better, but instead my anxiety level rose to where it was almost unbearable. I felt like he was a sitting duck. When he was doing his treatments,...

Jess,

Thats good news that your cea is a good indicator. I assume they will repeat that soon as well. We will try and remain positive. Let me know how things turn out.

God Bless,

Re: let's talk about liver "spots"

I'm not sure about the tiny spots on you liver. I think re-scanning soon is a good idea. If your cea is normal, that could be a good sign unless your cea is not a good indicator. As far as the cyst on the liver, my husband has had one for about two years now. He also has two in his left kidney. Out ...

stress and re-occurance

Does anybody here believe that stress alone can cause a relaps/re-occurance in your cancer. My husband has been doing well for almost 3 and a half years, which I am very grateful for. Last week the company he is working for closed it's doors and he is out of a job. It's not easy for a 55 year man wi...

Re: Recurrence Timeline Stats

Our onclologist told us that time starts right after surgery if they were able to take out all visable cancer with good clearance. If they were unable to do this, then your time will start when by blood work, scans ect. nothing is detected. That may be during treatment, or after. I guess that kind o...
