Re: Colon Cancer- Found out yesterday

I don't think you are going to have any choice but to tell him since he will need treatment. I'm surprised that the doctor has not shared the info with him. The doctor's primary duty and responsibility is to the patient, not the family. I suspect he will inform him soon. Secrecy is not going to work...

Helen Needs Our Good Wishes

Helen, long-time caregiver and wife to Pam, was recently diagnosed with colon cancer as well. As you may recall, her beloved Pam succumbed to colon cancer less than two years ago. I cannot imagine how difficult this must be for her, and I just wanted to let our CC community know that she had her res...

Re: Feeling overwhelmed tonight (Pity Party)

You're not whining! Man, if I had all that hit me at once I'd be curled up in the closet wrapped in a quilt.

I hope you feel better emotionally soon. Sometimes it takes a good downer to clear one's head.

Re: How would you respond?

I'm so glad that you have remained NED! Awesome. As for your sister, like others have said, I would cut her some slack. Perhaps she's just not informed enough about cancer treatment and assumes that since you're NED you are no longer Stage IV. It may also be a defensive mechanism to let her think yo...

Re: How do you tell a 5 year old daddy's girl that her daddy is dieing?

I'm so sorry that your little girl has to go through this. As others have said, I would recommend speaking to a child therapist to find the best way to help her deal with what will happen. One thing I think that is important to keep in mind is that life is full of loss. None of us can escape it, not...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

SMR - at 38 I think you're just way too young to give up on finding someone. You are probably still too traumatized to have the fortitude to do what is necessary to find someone via a dating website. My daughter is 36 and finally found someone through a dating website who seems like a great person. ...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Vicki, I'm so glad that your mom will be moving in with you soon. I know that will make the house feel a whole lot less empty. I moved my mom in with me after my divorce from my first husband and never regretted it. We were like two peas in a pod so it was good for both of us. At the time, my mom wa...

Re: DEVASTATED

I am so sorry you are going through this. A lot of what you say concerning your mom doesn't make complete sense. My advice to you is to request an appointment with her oncologist with you in attendance during which he/she spells out exactly where the cancer is and why there is fluid in her lungs. Of...

Re: A friend pushing 'Snake oil cures"

canadiandaughter: you have more tolerance than I have. I get what you're saying, and I do "excuse" the random idiotic things people occasionally say, but when a person continually keeps harping on snake oil crap, I do question their motives. I don't think it's just because they want to hel...
