Re: Newbie here: gallbladder or recurrence? Anyone know if gallbladder issues are common after folofox?

I know of several people who had gallbladder issues following crc and subsequent chemo. I was a few years past chemo (5fu and levamisole) I went to ER with severe upper abdominal pain. I had a diseased gall bladder and a small gallstone had blocked off my pancreatic duct. I had my gall bladder remov...

Re: Ten years and I missed it!

G'day Dori, Good to see you still going. Survival is not always easy but for some of us it just happens. I remember when you came on board and you always wonder when you haven't seen someone for a while . I am really glad you got to see your little boy grow up. I reached 20 years in Jan. It seems li...

Re: 31 year old male, 1.5 cm tubular adenoma

Hi JGU1986, I'm glad you were aware of your problems and sought help early. You were fortunate in one respect that you had a tubular adenoma as the general view from GI's is that they are the least likely of the polyps to turn cancerous BUT given enough time they will. I am 20 years past stage 3 col...

Re: SO FRUSTRATED! - I hate these 'mega' medical groups

Hi Soccermom, Seems to be a world wide problem . I was scheduled for a three yearly scope for my last one. I was out to three years and six months before I had it. . The GI was rather short with me . He could not understand why I was so concerned given that I had survived nearly twenty years without...

Re: Tubular Adenoma Polyp found during colonoscopy - 27 years old

High Sunny, During my last scope they found four tubular adenomas. The biggest was 11 mm It took three of four internal staples to stop the bleeding when they removed it . My GI and nephrologist both agreed if you are going to get polyps , tubular adenomas are the least likely to have anything nasty...

Re: Erythema ab igne

Hi Steph, for years I wondered about a condition I had been experiencing. Most of the time the palms of my hands are red. I have asked a lot of doctors but none were able , or willing to enlighten me. In recent times my nephrologist has come to believe that I am suffering from auto-immune hepatitis....

Re: Are followup colonoscopies counted as preventative?

I am in Australia so none of the same rules apply. But if you are asking if they are preventative only the health system would be under the illusion that they aren't. Colonoscopies are rarely for looking for recurrence. That is why we have scans. Polyps are the main target. I have had around a dozen...

Re: What to you do to keep up your strength?

G'day Debb, I will start at the end. I had 48 bags of 5Fu via canula and over 200 tablets of levamisole. At the end of it all my oncologist sat down with me and said I have never had that happen before , I said what? He said in the whole 48 weeks your blood counts never wavered ,they remained totall...
