Re: Tribute to my dear friend Anne - aka BeansMama

I am so very sorry to hear this news. I haven't been on the forum for a while, and so this is shocking. My love and prayers go to beansmama's family and friends, as well as to all of us here in Colon Club who feel this loss so deeply. It cuts. It doesn't make sense. And it's so unfair. Although I d...

She is a beautiful spirit, and deserved so much better in life.

I agree with both statements. I'm glad to have known her.

Re: another anniversary

Another year ,still cancer free. My cancer was removed on this day in 1998. I have survived cancer free for twenty years. I have been very fortunate to get this far and there has been a lot of collateral damage along the way. I spent the second day of this year in hospital after collapsing at home ...

Re: Tribute to my dear friend Anne - aka BeansMama

Thanks CRGuy and Lee. Yes, it felt powerful to get to meet them IRL. Finding this group changed my life, and Anne was a huge part of that. I wanted them to know that, and felt really blessed to get to do that. I'll be sure to let the group know if I end up touching base with any of them in the futur...

Re: Son is ill and I am scared

So sorry that you are going through all of this. My son is still young, but I know I would be much more worried if he were having health issues than I ever could be over my own. That's just the mom in us, isn't it? My prayers and hugs go out to you and him. Hopefully they will be able to find out wh...

Re: Back in the fight

Thanks everyone. Plan is to transfer me to a specialist neuro surgical department in a Dublin hospital to have growth removed. Docs feel it is most likely a met, but can not find any others so will approach this with curative intent which I think is very positive. They did say it's unusual to have ...

Re: Tribute to my dear friend Anne - aka BeansMama

Thanks again everyone - I wanted to post a quick update as today were the services for our Beansmama. I found out a few days ago that they were actually having them fairly close to where I live (couple hours drive), and while I didn't want to infringe on the family I felt really strongly that I want...

Re: Resection Distance / Margins - what were yours?

I'm going to try and stop worrying about this... I just have occasional mental images of cancerous lymph nodes hiding more than 18mm from the tumour that didn't get removed. I swear I used to be a rational thinker before cancer arrived... Hah - didn't we all used to be?!? :) I totally understand. I...

Re: Beansmama is gone.

Yes that is the best thing- that she did beat it most likely! Having a bit of post-holiday letdown on my end, even considering I feel like I'm in a relatively good situation all things considered. Thanks! That's what this group is all about. Understanding each other when we feel those down times, a...

Re: Resection Distance / Margins - what were yours?

I was just going through my records before my next meeting with the oncologist, and noticed the pathology report listed a distance of 18mm between the edge of the tumour and the closest margin (probably the distal margin since my tumour was sigmoid/rectosigmoid and I had a sigmoid colectomy). We al...

Re: Diagnosed 9 years ago TODAY! 1/2/2009

Diagnosed during a colonoscopy (partial obstruction had made me very ill) on 1/2/2009. Stage IIIB for 3 years. In April it will be 6 years since my liver resection. http://www.justalittletalk.com/2018/01/nine-years-ago-today/ You go, girl. You are such an ongoing inspiration to me, and one of the p...
