Re: Funny stories about your journey

Somebody tell me to stop!!! I hope someone is getting a chuckle from these... While in the hospital after my first resection, my husbands cell phone was about to die. He was searching around to find a charger that would work. We had a very funny, very tall, masculine female nurse that we weren't sur...

Re: Funny stories about your journey

I have been thoroughly enjoying your stories!!! Loved them all! Here's another of mine: In the emergency room the day I was diagnosed, a very calloused doctor told me in front of my 15 year old, very frightened daughter that the colonoscopy they were about to perform could puncture my colon and kill...

A big hug for you. There are never any words that can make your loss easier... I hope you find comfort in the fact that she no longer suffers.

Your memories and love are eternal. Look for her in the still beauty of nature. She is not gone, just in another realm...

Re: Funny stories about your journey

Your husband sounds like a great guy, Julia! Here is round two of my stories. I was in the hospital for my first colon resection. I was all prepped and ready to go. An EXTREMELY good looking, buff, young orderly came to my room to wheel me down. I looked at him square in the eye and said, "gee....

Funny stories about your journey

I have dealt with this disease through humor. Call me weird, but I have tried to make others laugh at the most stressful times. Lets share some funny experiences that have happened on your journey. Story #1 (excuse me if I have a bunch of these...) After my HIPEC surgery, doped up on mega morphine, ...

Re: Things to do and NOT do for the sick people in your life

Ha ha... After I had my HIPEC surgery and friends would come visit, they did NOT tell me I looked good...because I looked like hell! I lost 25 pounds and most of my hair and looked awful. Now, a year later, gained a few pounds and hair follicles back, they tell me I look good...and I believe them!! ...

Re: i want my daddy to live (stage 4 colon cancer)

Hi Shannon... Has anyone suggested cytoreduction with HIPEC for your dad? Not sure if it is an option for him with kidney mets? If no one has, I recommend a consult with a good HIPEC surgeon...mine was Armando Sardi in Baltimore, MD at Mercy Medical, Paul Sugarbaker pioneered the surgery, and there ...

Re: Random Thoughts on Christians and Cancer

Funny you should post this, because I contemplated starting a similar thread myself. This is really an important issue for Christians. I am stage IV, and though my doctor hasn't said it, I know I may not have much time left. I have a strong faith, and don't wrestle with questions about the WHY. The ...

Re: STAGE IV SURVIVOR STORY

I also am stage IV and not done fighting! Anyone who has peritoneal mets should look into cytoreduction with HIPEC. Many on this site have had it with great results. It's a huge surgery but well worth what you go through to get to the other side. This stage IV girl is focusing on diet (lots of veggi...

Re: I can't deal with this

Dear GWJ... I'm a Mom dealing with cancer too. I have an 18 year old daughter. This is an awful thing for you to be dealing with and trying to adjust to college too. Your first semester in college is difficult all by itself. Try to focus on: what would my Mom want for me? Would she want me to do my ...
