Re: $$561 a month for Xeloda on Medicare??? Help!!

Xeloda costing me $561 a month on Medicare?? Anything I can do? I have Aetna supplemental but evidently Xeloda is not covered by my rx coverage but rather my medical coverage which I have to pay 20% up to my max out of pocket. Anyone have experience with this? When Sleen was considering Xeloda, the...

I think it is awesome that this trial has him stable. Maybe this trial will clear up the confusion from the earlier trials. Good luck!

Re: When to participate in clinical trials?

Hi Okei57, You certainly have the odds stacked against your DH, so you are right to start thinking about it now. Your timing will need to be just right to get into a trial. Most require first line chemo to have been completed or failed, so he is not eligible for those yet. Also, many have an age lim...

Re: Minimal growth on last scan--need advice

I suppose my wife and I sound like a broken record, but, I think you would be a good candidate for the NIH TIL trial. Your biggest tumor is in an easy to resect position (you said) and it is large enough to qualify. I don't know enough about other details about you but, if you qualify, there is the ...

Re: MSS or MSI ?

Sorry to jump the thread but can someone also tell me what it all means including KRAS etc. What's the good ones to have? The KRas gene is part of the MEK pathway that controls cell proliferation. If the gene is normal (wild type) then signals from the cell microenvironment can be correctly process...

Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

My husband is going to NIH tomorrow for evaluation for the TIL trial after having growth on a KRAS trial this summer. He has a few lung mets - all under a cm, so they are thinking he probably does not have big enough mets yet for harvest, but they want to see him. WOOHOO. Meanwhile he has been a be...

Re: Bad CT Scan

I did ask my onc about immunotherapy, and she said only that it is not useful for CRC. Jim I think that any onc who says that needs to be your former doctor. While the 100+ year old science of immunotherapy is in its infancy right now, more breakthroughs are coming each year. Palliative chemotherap...

Re: Cancer continues to grow/ chemo being stopped. what now?

Hi there My brothers latest ct scan shows that his B*stard cancer has continued to grow (liver, lungs, * a pelvic tumour) despite the latest chemotherapy rounds. All the latest chemo seemed to do was make my brother ill. The oncologist has told him that there are no more treatments for him that cou...

Re: Tumor in both rectum and colon

She thinks he will recommend a PET scan to confirm whether the 9 mm mass is cancer or not. Something to keep in mind going into a PET scan of a mass this small; the PET can not tell you that it is not cancer. What do I mean by that? For any lesion under 2cm, low uptake in indeterminate as to metast...

Re: Immunotherapy Treatment Xilonix for CRC

While I don't have the pedigree that DK37 and Grouseman have, I can see some problems with this report. First of all, this is a report from Europe and has no bearing on the US trial that is ongoing. Second, it is somewhat misleading in the way it was reported. The actual endpoint of the study was no...

Re: Stage IV Colon Cancer on the ROAD TO RECOVERY

NCT01174121 and NCT01697527 are sticking out, especially since NCT01174121 seems to have recently re-opened. Hi hmschaef, The NIH TIL trial (NCT01174121) is open and accepting applicants. The key to this trial is that they stick to the exclusion criteria closely, so read them over to see if somethi...

Re: Well this isn't the way I wanted this to go. Biopsy of lung nodule came back positive for colon cancer.

As you can see from some other posts, it is possible to clear up lung mets with secondary chemo. The success rate is somewhere between 13% and 25% depending on how aggressively they treat you and how you handle the treatment. Best outcomes are Folfoxiri with Avastin, but it has serious side effects ...

AkaSleen in this group had lung nodules & has achieved NED, I believe. Hi, this is Sleen's husband. We were is a similar situation a year and a half ago, and we were equally shocked that this was not over for her. I quite understand the emotional roller coaster the news caused. I want to tell y...

Re: Reoccurence after FOLFOX 11 rounds

My question is, is there any other chemo, or treatment used for adenocarcinoma? If it has metastasized, you are at a crossroad; palliative care or go for a cure. When we were at this point, she (Sleen) was not interested in "chemo for life". She thought is was worth a shot at a cure by jo...

Re: Shingles question

You might want to ask your doctor about Valtrex. I don't know if there would be any concern about interaction with chemo drugs, but it helped me (i'm a caregiver, never had chemo). Also, I know that there are steriods that help, but again, ask your doc... they can interfere with immunotherapy.
