Lung met treatment experience

DH has a few lung mets under a cm. He had one ablated a few weeks ago due to size. Currently no plans to put him back on chemo. He's been off chemo since June 2016. Is this normal? We went to sloane and Yale and they said the same thing - wait and maybe put him back on chemo in 6 months or so. Anyon...

Clinical Trial Advice

For those in clinical trials, did you guys solely rely on your doctor to find you one or did you do your own research? DH wants to rely solely on MSK and I am all for trying to research on our own. NCI contacted us to get info and he is hesitant to fill out the paperwork.

RFA vs Lung met surgery in Germany

Does anyone know the difference between RFA and the surgery done in Germany? DH has a few lung mets. He's having one removed, but others they will try to shrink with chemo at some point. Watching them for now to see if they grow. The one that is being ablated did grow. Seems like if we went to Germa...

Re: Job Offer - Need Advice

DebZ - you read my mind! I contacted NIH to get into a trial and they have DH's info. The lung met is being ablated on Tuesday. Surgeon said it was getting close to a main artery so it was too risky to wait. Which I realize makes him ineligible for the trial, but it needs to be dealt with. It grew q...

Re: Job Offer - Need Advice

I neglected to mention he has been unemployed since diagnosis. He has been on SSDI. So he wouldn't be switching jobs but getting a new one.

Job Offer - Need Advice

So we find out on Monday DH has some lung mets after a year of being clear. On Tuesday he is offered a great job right near home. Plan is to ablate the biggest lung met and watch the others. He has been told he is incurable and we should try and get into a trial. He has only been on folfox so far, s...

Re: TIL Immunotherapy at NCI

Does anyone know if you have to show chemo resistance to qualify for this trial? DH had folfox and finished up last summer. NED for a bit but not has about 5 lung mets.

JulieJ - have you heard good things? A friend who works in oncology research recommended him for CRC.

Re: Bad Scan - Need Info

Thanks all! We don't want to leave MSK but I feel like we don't have a choice. They don't reassign to another oncologist which is unfortunate. We have an appt with Dr. Hochster at Yale. I've heard he is aggressive with treatment and very well known and respected within the CRC community. Juliej - I ...

Re: Bad Scan - Need Info

juliej, As you know, she frustrates me with her wait and see approach for everything. She said wait and see 3 months ago with 3 potential mets and here we are with 7! I questioned her and she said quality of life is important and there are limited chemo options so she doesn't want to exhaust them ri...

Bad Scan - Need Info

DH was being watched for 3 nodules in lungs which has now progressed to 8 - scattered throughout both lungs. He is K-RAS, TP-53 mutation. Can anyone send me info on any trials he may qualify for? She didn't agree with me to try the laser lung surgery because she said they will most likely come back....

Re: Doctor Bedside Manner Training

Hi all,

It's not Dr. K! It's Dr. Won who was assigned to us by Dr. DeMatteo after surgery. He felt like with one respectable liver met we probably didn't need Kemeny. He's been right since it's now showing in his lungs.

Maybe Dr. K trained Dr. Won on bedside manner - ha ha!!
