Re: New here My son has colon cancer

Thank you O Stoma Mia for the "tech support" and for your post. I know that my son has a liver hemangioma--the surgeon took a color photo of it during his resection surgery and showed it to me. Surgeon said there's nothing to do for it; just left it alone. This is why this other spot (or s...

Re: New here My son has colon cancer

My concern is NOT that my son prefers to go to the next oncology appt alone, nor that he didn't tell me about his CT results until I returned from my trip. I fully support him working and doing whatever he can to keep his life as normal as possible and to control in it what he is able to control, ma...

Re: New here My son has colon cancer

I'm the original poster. I'm replying because I cannot find where to begin a new topic. I read in FAQ to "click on new topic"...but where is it? I'm writing for some advice/support/help for my 46 yr old son with Stg III colon cancer. He had a CT about 3 weeks ago and told me all was fine. ...

Re: Newly Dx Colon Cancer Stage III

Hello Melissa, My son had a colon resection for Stage IIIA sigmoid colon cancer in January, got a port placed and began FOLFOX Feb. 26. He has not had neuropathy but cold intolerance to food/drink, nausea, a few episodes of vomiting, fatigue. He also had some minor oral sores and an odd feeling in h...

Re: Anyone have a Dye Study on their Port?

Hi Mattie/Sue, My son recently had a dye study on his port. It would flush fine but only intermittently work when trying to draw blood from it. The study took about 15 minutes; he was awake for it & watched the pictures on the screen. Basically the port is fine. The reason they can't draw from i...

Re: Folic acid and chemo?

Hello... My son is 4 cycles into FOLFOX. He experiences the same SE as most of you: cold intolerance, throat tightening, jaw clenching, nausea, insomnia. Zofran & Compazine--compazine works a littel more effectively. Can someone tell me about folic acid and -- is it the 5FU(?)--does the folic ac...

Re: New here My son has colon cancer

Your son sounds like me though a lot younger. My treatment chemo + radiation, surgery and then Xeloda+Oxaliplatin for six months. I have another two months to go and the chemo makes me feel pretty crappy. But I'm working five+ days a week as well with a lot of other responsibilities. I would guess ...

Re: New here My son has colon cancer

Hi Capri, I was diagnosed at age 44 and had a similar diagnosis to your son. Males are a bit different to us females and tend to just get on with things, my husband is like this anyway. I was paralysed with fear at times and the best thing for me was feeling "normal" and doing "norma...
