Re: Kimby - Kimberly Jo Hinkle

This is really terrible news... my mouth dropped when I read the post of her passing. I like many people do not "personally" know others on this board.. but you feel you get to know them thru their postings. Just really sad...

opened up for liver resection..then found cirrhosis of liver

what % is most normally took out at liver resection??

My dad just got the word-- the spot that has showed up on his liver is resectable... but the surgeon said almost 50% of the liver would have to be cut off it looked like. That seems like a lot to us, and of course my dad and mom are getting really concerned about how well my dad can recover with 50 ...

dads ct results are in--not what we were hoping

well the dreaded ct scan results came in today--- a very small spot on one of his lungs, and a approx. 1inch spot on his liver. Of course I had built myself up that maybe his cea levels had to be wrong... but looks like they weren't. The onc. is sending him to a nearby town(that is larger) for some ...

Re: I was surprised at the bad news

Re: Blue cross and blue shield insurance not covering pet scans?

Terry.. My dads mets were first to the peritoneum. There was only actually one spot that had showed up , and after his chemo, it was not lighting up anymore. His ct had to be rescheduled to this tuesday, so I guess we will see then. And my dad did try and explain that in the beginning the spot never...

Re: Stage IV/terminal, positivity & day to day

HI, just wanted to respond... I don't think atleast for me-- you can get your head around it. I do not have colon cancer but my dad was diagnosed in jan of last year with stage 4 colon cancer. They love their oncologist as well, but he is the kind that just throws the statistics out there, and told ...

question for those who r insured by blue cross & blue shield

Hi, just wondering being that my dad has run into problems about getting his pet approved by them, if he is going to have alot of trouble getting the xeloda. He has had the pump 5fu before, and really would love to give the xeloda a try. It is looking like he may be starting back on chemo-- just wai...

Re: Blue cross and blue shield insurance not covering pet scans?

well no luck with persuading the insurance to cover it yet. My dad has been on the phone with the oncologist, and his staff, and they called the insurance and let them know about his rising cea, and about his previous ct that showed nothing. They said that line about being sympathetic but..... these...

Blue cross and blue shield insurance not covering pet scans?

my dad was supposed to have his pet scan tomorrow- but insurance is denying it. His company just switched to blue cross and blue shield in jan of this year. They said they will cover the ct scan first, then if something shows up a pet... The problem with that is at first my dads mets did not show up...
