Re: TAKEDOWN and HERNIA repair scheduled May 6th

my surgeon wrote back to me... "I don't think I can swing that by next tuesday and the case isn not booked for time enough to add that on. I think it would be reasonable to wait for a bit to do the hysterectomy - this is just prophylactic and you have been through radiation, surgery, and chemot...

TAKEDOWN and HERNIA repair scheduled May 6th

Yesterday, I got the final report from the PET/CT - no evidence of disease so my surgery is on! I am so happy about this. I'm also having my hernia repaired at the same time. Has anyone else had this - a hernia fixed at the same time as takedown? ALSO... any and all advice wanted. What to expect. Wh...

Re: For Animal Lovers - a remarkable BBC documentary

Thanks Vilca! I'm going to watch it tonight. My animals have comforted me the most through all this. They've also been the kick in the ass I needed when all I wanted to do was hide under the covers.

PET results on pelvic node

During my pre-takedown surgery tests, a CT with contrast scan showed an enlarged left external iliac lymph node measuring 1.1 x 1.4 cm , increased from 1.1 x 0.8 mm previously and a PET scan was ordered. The PET came back normal. This was read and reported back to me by my local oncologist. I am sti...

Local reoccurrence prior to Takedown surgery

If my PET shows local reoccurrence, what are my options? Will they cancel my reversal? Has this happened to anyone here. I'm told a lymph node in my pelvic area is suspicious for cancer. I have a PET scheduled for Tuesday. My doctor will not discuss my situation until she reads the PET scan. I am de...

Re: CT scan vs PET

Assuming it is cancer, what next. Will they still allow me to have the reversal and at the same time try to take the node? I also have a large incisional hernia that I call "the baby head" I put a call into my doctor but she doesn't want to discuss until after the PET results. I do NOT wan...

Re: NO CANCER! CT and MRI all clear

great new indeed. I'm fighting to keep it together here... a positive node prior to takedown. I'm feeling so defeated. I don't want to do anymore chemo. but.... I am happy for you! we need more good news thanks for doing your part.

Re: CT scan vs PET

this is my first scan post chemo. I finished chemo on St. Patricks day. I also had a scan in January. I get them every 3 months. This is the first one that showed a positive node. I have not had a PET since my initial diagnosis in May of 2013. The PET took place in June. Nothing lit up. They schedul...

CT scan vs PET

I've been trying to stay quiet here. Trying NOT to focus on cancer. I needed a break if only for a few weeks. So I finished my chemo, then went for my scans and tests prior to my takedown surgery and I got a positive node in my pelvic area. I'm devestated. (once again) So, they've scheduled a PET bu...

Call me stupid but I don't understand the stump. Are you reconnected? I also don't understand the Jpouch but I'll google that. I have, what I call, "THE BABY HEAD" a HUGE hernia around my stoma. I HATE the baby head. Trying to get a seal is really hard and I look deformed. I wish I had bee...
