Re: Pelvic pain ---hernia?

Hi: I have had two hernias. The first one was an incisional hernia at the site of the operation that removed my gallbladder, its tumour, and part of my liver. I got it after lifting something a bit too heavy about 4 months after the surgery. I wore an abdominal binder for 2 years. That hernia was fi...

Re: Colorectal cancer and aspirin

Hi: It's been on the Canadian news here as well. I think it is the Kras mutation. I also read a recent book by an eminent (that doesn't look right!) oncologist who recommends a daily low dose aspirin for cancer. Anyways, I take a low dose aspirin every day even though I don't have the mutation. Cheryl

Re: Folfox-Low blood counts

Hi: My white cell blood counts were usually low after folfirinox (like folfox but with the addition of irenotecan) and so I had Neulasta injections
every 3 weeks. I had 14 treatments of folfirinox.

Hi: I am so sorry Lauren is going through this. She is so young. How on earth would I have coped when I'm 3 times her age! What a surgery this is.

Re: Stoma Area Hernia

Hi all: Isn't it funny that two of us have had the condition worsened with a binder that has a hole in it?! I'll try to find a Nu-Hope binder here in Canada. Thanks for the information.

Stoma Area Hernia

Hi all: Anyone out there have a hernia at the stoma? I had to use a binder after surgery which didn't work well with the colostomy bag. They custom made a binder with a hole cut out for the stoma but that seemed to create additional problems such that I ended up with a hernia. Anyone else have this?...

Re: that white coating!

Hi: I also used a tongue scraper and haven't stopped even though I am off chemo. I found that the "white coating" only lasted for a
few days after chemo and my tongue turned pink again!

Re: "phantom" or real stuff after colostomy???

Hi: I too have a permanent colostomy. I wish the surgeon had told me about the urge to go the regular way sometimes and the mucous thing. But he didn't. Thankful a friend did. I have had the "bag" for almost 6 months now and I was told these urges would continue forever and that an enema (...

Re: Liver mets...plus others...any suggestions?

Hi: I also have mets to the liver but they were identified way back in Oct 2009 and I am still here. I have had two regimes of treatment: first one gemcitibine and cisplatin which did not work on me to slow down the liver met; I then had 14 treatments of folfirinox which did slow growth (oxaliplatin...

Re: ? Liver mets and surgery??

Hi: I asked about surgery because I know that quite a bit of one's liver can be removed. But it wasn't possible for me, here in Canada, because I have
mets to the peritoneum (but they are very slow growing). I guess they figured I was a poor risk!

Aggressive Radiation for Liver Mets

Hi all: I have had 14 treatments of folfirinox which reduced the growth of a met to the liver (which is now about 4 cm in diameter in sector 4a). I can't have any more chemo, just yet at least, because I now have a colostomy (permanent). I met with a radiation specialist yesterday at our cancer cent...

Re: Will I lose my hair during the chemo treatments?

Hi: My hair thinned a lot while on folfirinox and then most fell out 2 wks after my last infusion and when I was in hospital with a perforated bowel. It is starting to grow back, but grey!
