Greg,
Thanks for the post about OsmoPrep. I have my first post-surgery colonoscopy on Tuesday and I am taking the pills Monday. I feel better reading your post that it wasn't so bad. Thanks

My colonoscopy isn't until Tuesday (11/27). One thing nice about colonoscopies is the results are available right away. I will post when I get home. Should also know the results of the ultrasound also. I am just praying for NOTHING to show up!

Thanks for asking.

John, You are so right that there is a reason for this. Certainly no one would willingly want this or any cancer, but we have all learned so much from our experiences. I am so totally thrilled for you that you are going to have a baby! Children can and do bring so much joy and happiness into our liv...

Hello there, I am sorry that we have to meet under these circumstances, but life is what it is. Unfortunately, not everyone has symptoms and the symptoms that there are can be very very vague. I cannot speak for colon cancer as mine was lower down and considered rectal cancer. For me, I noticed very...

Pam, My colonoscopy (thank goodness) is first thing in the morning-I believe 8AM. SInce I am allergic to the drugs they give you, I have to have mine done in the hospital and I have to be there by 6:30am. It wouldn't be so bad, except that the hospital is in Seattle and I live about 1 hour south and...

Mary, That's wonderful news and just in time for Thanksgiving. I am having my first post-treatment/surgery colonoscopy next Tuesday and am nervous about them finding something. Hopefully, nothing will be there but I will just have to wait a few more days to find that out. Thankfully, your was benign...

Thanksgiving reflection

Cancer is such an insidious disease. It can rob us of our dignity, make us self conscious and fill us with fear and trepidation. However, it can and should teach us about what we have up until now, taken for granted. – Our life. I can only speak for myself, but my battle with cancer has shown me tha...

Unfortunately, colorectal cancer can and does strike young people-although 29 is relatively young. Given her family history (I am assuming that her mother also had colorectal cancer as you did not say which type of cancer she was diagnosed with) it is probably good that she is going to be tested. Al...

You are right-having support and knowledge ahead of time can make all the diffference in the world. Like others before you, you will get through this next phase in your journey. Just know that even though it seems like a long time, there is an end. By the time you get home and read this you will be ...

Thank you all for the responses. Logically I know that the number is good, but there is absolutely NOTHING logical about cancer. I have to take the CEA along with all my other tests and look at the whole picture, so to speak. The big test will be in another week or so. I will be having my first colo...

Ruth, What you are describing are classic symptoms of carpel tunnel syndrome. I had it in both of my hands and it typically gets worse at night. This is due to the fact that your wrist (at night) gets bent at different angles for long periods of time and the nerves get trapped while this happens and...

Question about my CEA level

I have a question about my CEA level. When I was diagnosed, it was 0.5, then went up to 1, 1.1, 1.2 and has settled at 1.3 Yes, I know that 1.3 is all within the acceptable limits and it has been staying there now since surgery. Does it mean anything that it has gone UP since diagnosis? I know that ...

Totally off the original subject but in response to the last post. Yes, as long as a parent has worked and qualifies for Social Security, then the children do also under the following guidelines. 1. Your child will receive SS benefits up to age 18 or 19 if still in high school. In other words, if yo...

Kom, I also had rectal cancer and had my surgery in April. However, I had a transanal excision. Right after surgery I had trouble urinating but believe that was caused by the spinal. However, for a few weeks afterwards, I still had a definite "heavy" feeling in my whole pelvic area and a little diff...
