Re: My California LAR Story

After ileostomy reversal, I do notice minor differences in my bowel movements, I have them more frequently and I can be pretty gassy. One night I had the use the bathroom several times. For the most part it's fine, I would not say I have LARS. Everyones experience is different. As always feel free ...

Re: Pelvic Fluid

they saw some fluid in the small pelvis.

Can anyone relate?
Can this be normal I.e. be leftover from surgery?
Happened to my mom, she had a rough recovery and had like a hernia, abscess and almost block obstruction. Scary stuff, but i guess it is very common. good luck.

Re: My dad just got diagnosed with colon cancer

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your father. This is a a great support group. I was alone in the recovery room when my mom's GI told me that she had rectal cancer, and when he told me, it was like a blur! Then, he told me that it didn't look that good and she will most likely have a bag for the rest of...

Re: Would Appreciate Advise

I agree best to have a colonoscopy to find out the reason for the bleeding.*hugs* It was the best thing that I could ever do for myself and give me "Peace of Mind". Mom got DX last May with rectal cancer. It was a huge surprise to everyone nobody on her side of family had CA. I had to fig...

Re: Can Stages go backwards post surgery?

I asked my surgeon and she said that it's still 3 even though everything is 0 right now. It might make a slight difference for mop-up chemo though. I'll find out myself this Thursday. It was confirmed by mom's surgeon that is considered "Remission" even though they got all of the cancer (...

Can Stages go backwards post surgery?

Silly question. Do the Stages go backward after an operation? If you started with Stage 3 and had surgery on the tumor and they got most of it, does it go back to Stage 1 or none? Please share cause I'm clueless. We see the surgeon next Monday, I guess I can ask him.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!! :D

Re: Very worried - would like advice

Your husband needs a colonoscopy. Funny thing about colon cancer is that you can have bleeding from other things and cancer at the same time, and be misdiagnosed because of it. I had bleeding on and off for 6 years. Agree, he needs a colonoscopy and I had to fight for it on a 2nd opinion due to my ...

Re: Age 30 (M) Recently Diagnosed, Family History

I live in Michigan and had chemo in the middle of winter so that didn't help. Also, I had first bite syndrome for a couple days after the infusion. The first bite of anything would send pain from ear down jaw line then after that it was fine. That was kind of weird. I'm so happy your mom had good n...

Re: Near-complete pathological response !

I was stage 2A. After chemo/radiation the surgeon did a sigmoidoscopy and said all that was left was scar tissue and I may not need chemo after surgery. I was thrilled. However, the pathology report showed minimal residual cancer cells and even tho margins were clear and no lymph nodes involved he ...

Re: Age 30 (M) Recently Diagnosed, Family History

I did chemo/radiation for 5 weeks and had complete response. Only scar tissue remained. Surgeon suggested I may not need chemo after surgery depending on pathology report. Path report showed minimal residual cancer, 0/24 lymph nodes and clear margins. Oncologist did recommend chemo as she couldn't ...
