Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

Started Xeloda today. Lots of anxiety yesterday, but glad to be getting this done. I received my Oncogene DX text results back today. Test reported 12% recurrence risk with no chemo, but 7%-5% recurrence risk with 5fu/ Xeloda for 6 months. By adding Oxaliplatin it only improves risk by 1%. Any other...

You said you live in Ohio. That’s very lucky for cancer treatment. The James center is outstanding and also The Cleveland Clinic is one of the best in the country. I had my surgery at Univ of Cincinnati and my second opinion at the James center. The Univ of Cincinnati also has great board cert color...

Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

I decided on doing chemo after oncologist explained a cancer cell can get out and travel leaving no trace until it decides to grow. I know the few studies on stage 2 show little to no difference with chemo, but I want to do everything I can. My oncologist said xeloda kills cancer cells so I am hopin...

Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

I am a stage 2A just starting my journey. Sigmoid Lap colectomy six weeks ago. Have been living in the gray area of adjunct therapy. Visited three oncologist and all had a different take on what to do. It was clear none of them really know how to proceed with stage 2. Very disheartening how little i...

Re: Chemo opitions

Thank you to everyone for the advice! I have made a third appointment to review oncogene test and that will be deciding factor of which therapy I choose. This is so overwhelming and I think about this cancer 24/7. My husband and I are just so sad. He had prostate cancer and his 5 year date is this J...

Chemo opitions

I wanted to ask for help understanding my chemotherapy opitions. My first oncologist wants to do 6 months Xeloda. I went to a new oncologist today for a second opinion who suggested 6 months of folfox and didn’t like the xeloda idea. I have also read current information suggesting 3 months of folfox...

Re: Why no statistics on stage two and Xeloda

Received my MSS positve status today. Doctor now recommends 6 months of Xeloda. I understand MSS is most common and has a higher recurrence rate. But all of these statistics are misleading when you really review the very limited number of studies. I will proceeded with the xeloda. Any thoughts on wh...

Re: Colon Resection week 4

I will be 4 weeks post surgery on Thursday. I felt pretty good the first two weeks but only ate small amounts of soft low fiber foods. Last 10 days or so I have been very tired and sore. I have had the best results taking 1 tbs of suger free citrucil every morning and sticking to small amounts of fo...

Ladies-Hrt and CC

Hi Ladies. Anyone have opinions or facts on HRT and reduction in recurrence of colon cancer. There is research suggesting up to 40% reduction in preventing colon cancer, but I haven’t found much on preventing recurrence after you have had it. Also anyone following a diet plan they believe helps? All...

Thanks for all the advice. I will proceed with the Xeloda because I would not forgive myself if it comes back and I didn’t take it. Wishing all of you health and happiness!
