Re: Need some help with CT results

... Three months ago my wife’s CEA rose from 1.3 to 1.8... Fast forward to today CEA is up to 2.5. Onc says don’t worry kidney issues can elevate it... You asked about help on CT interpretation, but this reply is about interpreting rises in CEA instead, since you mentioned a sequence of 1.3 to 1.8 ...

Need some help with CT results (What is ill defined soft tissue attenuation?)

Quick update and sorry I’m using my phone so spelling maybe bad. Three months ago my wife’s CEA rose from 1.3 to 1.8. The CT scan showed a restriction of the right uereter most likely scarring from radiation. She also has a stint placed there from her resection surgery where they removed her eight e...

Re: CEA and Kidney function

Elevated CEA readings are found in chronic kidney disease, which is benign. So the rise in your wife's CEA could definitely be related to her kidney issues and not to cancer. And you're right, her CEA is still in the normal range, so I wouldn't worry quite yet. The tricky thing about CEA is that it...

CEA and Kidney function

Yeah. Just to bring you up to speed quickly. My wife started hyperbolic treatments about 90 days ago to help heal a fistula and issues from radiation. At that time her right side started to hurt they did her labs and CT and her CEA went from 1.3 to 1.8 and showed scaring around the ureter on the rig...

Re: This SUCKS, and we haven’t even begun to fight

I agree that this sucks and none of use deserve to be in this boat. I remember being in your shoes taking care of my wife just over two years ago. As others have said right now you are playing defense and its one doctors appointment with more difficult news after another. Once you get a plan set out...

Re: Did anyone ever decide to go back to ileostomy after reversal

I do daily tap water enemas. It is very simple to do and takes about 30-45 minutes in the morning. It empties my lower bowel and allows me 24 hours of bathroom free until I do again the next morning. It takes a little time and patience to become proficient and develop a routine. There are many othe...

Re: CEA Levels

Just had MRI done at 10am EST and the doctor sent me the results at 12:43 PM EST...WOW...Everything Clear with MRI Pelvic region. I am still nervous for Pet Scan which will be done Friday, but I pray this is a good indicator. I am very happy with this news, but you know I can't just be perfectly ha...

Re: Fistula Questions

This is good to know about, because I will need to use a pediatric scope or virtual colonoscopy in the future because of the post-radiation/surgery shape of my colon. My colonoscopy in October didn’t go past the recto-sigmoid junction. I will definitely ask about the risks of a fistula in the futur...

Re: Fistula Questions

I am sorry to read about your wife's fistula. I had a recto vaginal fistula caused by delayed radiation damage. Mine developed after ileostomy takedown. It was horrific to deal with. A few weeks after the fistula occured, I had surgery to attempt a repair, as well as an colostomy placed. I had a gr...

Fistula Questions

Yes my wife had her first colonoscopy two weeks ago since diagnosis. Good news things went well no pulps or signs of cancer. Yahoo. The not so good news is that they had to use a pediatric scope as her connection point is narrow, everyone suspects that it is from the radiation. A week after she noti...

Re: Colonoscopy prep question

My wife has done both. Her GI doc is miralax gatoraide method but the rectal surgeon was all by the books and gave her a prescription. She like the miralax gatoraide one the most but has gotten to the point that she uses water. She goes in Weds for a scope so the fun begins for her tomorrow afternoo...
