Re: Chemo Lifer

I have an insurance question about this...any of you with private insurance? Do they just keep paying for your treatments? At this time I am on Keytruda so my onc has to get additional approval, but this has started to become one of my concerns with new year approaching. If this drug stops working ...

Re: Chemo Lifer

The bad news is that there are only a limited number of treatments and when they all stop working, the disease takes over. The good news is that new treatments and procedures are in the works, and I expect to see a new generation of immunotherapy treatments to be coming on line over the next few yea...

Re: Just diagnosed and hopeless

From what I can see, you're a long way from hopeless. You may feel helpless, but that's different. I agree that M.D. Anderson is a good choice in your case. I drive 5 hours each way to NYC to see my onc at Sloan-Kettering, and I feel blessed to be so close to such fine care. As Juliej says, it does ...

Re: Read my sig, and yay me for current status!

Fantastic news, Rob. I don't think anyone has ever shown that radiation from scans has any direct affect on your longevity or health. Of course, I could be wrong.

Re: PET/CT scan accuracy

Worrying is a waste of time and I know it's an easy thing to say, but a lot harder to actually accomplish. Try to reduce your stress levels and you'll live longer. What I try to do is find something to occupy my attention so that I can at least temporarily forget about whatever it is I'd be worrying...

Re: Digestion Problem

If she wasn't digesting the food, it would eventually sour and come back up. If she's not vomiting, then it's getting digested--just not in a comfortable way. I'm sure there's some medicinal remedy that should help, like an antacid. But if she has a doctor, especially an oncologist, she should call ...

Re: Bad CT Scan

Yes, good luck Jim. I sure hope it turns out to be nothing. JulieJ had something like that. They determined that it was benign after removing it. So, CT scans aren't all that revealing.

Re: Clustering

I've clustered since getting reversed back in '09, but these days I mostly attribute it to chemo. The time or two that I've been off chemo for extended periods (months), the clustering stopped and my bowel situation returned to something resembling normal. I have noticed however, that it's a lot wor...

Re: Bad CT Scan

I know the feeling. When my first lung node was diagnosed, I figured I was not long for this world. That was about 6 years ago. I've since regained some hope that if I hold out long enough, there will be new treatments and procedures that will allow us to kick the can down the road while they figure...

Re: Clustering

I call having bowel movement a "process." I totally relate to the frustration at never feeling that you're done. You might try Imodium or better yet, Lomotil, which needs a script. Those two meds can buy you some downtime so you can, for example, get a good night's sleep or get through the...
